I've recently picked up an 88 GT Auto Conv. and well, she is all stock aside from the subframes I just put in. I want to get a set of gears first as she is pretty slow, even though she has been pampered and stabled for most of her life. My dilema is that I want to be able to go on the highway and get decent mileage as well as beat up on some of the civic's in my area . As it stands I think the 4:10's would be best, she is not a daily driver but I loved cruisin this past summer on the wknds with the top down. Thanks in advance for any help.

4.10's is my vote.

I don't know that a 4:10 gear would be best on the highway. But for what your talking about, i would say to stay in the 3:50 range.

I had the 3:73's with my 87 gt and 91 lx and was very happy with them. The 4:10's with the newer mustangs is the way to go, the cars are heaver so it makes since. The 3:73 is a good gear for the fox body if your not drag racing alot.
Thats the way id go. We have ford racing gears in stock.

Not sure how your rule came about but I have heard it before , I was reading some other post's about this question and it seems the 3:73's RPM range @ 70mph is where I would like to be for now. For the $179 to buy them I guess I can afford to try them both eventually. TX

I have 3:73 gears and I love them. 3:55 might be better for highway though.
