Default New to forum

Hello all. Just joined this forum and I am all the way from Melbourne in OZ...passionate owner for the last 5 years of a modified 66 mustang. Seems that not to many people here in Australia agree with modifying the old ponys but have always felt that your Sunday cruiser should be faster than your daily driver... Then again a tuff daily driver doesn't hurt either. Joined the USA forum for help and advice ... Will try and post some pics of the car once I get back on my iPad.

A Big Welcome to AFM George! And Yes, We are Always delighted to see that our (In My Opinion Anyway) Sister Country "Down Under" Has Peeps that not only LOVE Fords, but Really LOVE Stangs ...
I know that I for one, (and I have heard it from Many other Americans) that Ford HQ has decided to close that Awesome Ford Factory in Australia! . Im sorry for getting a bit of Topic here, but I for one know that the Newer Modular Engine Family would have never evolved to what it is today without Ford Australia!
Take for the first instance, the beloved 3 Valve, Variable Cam Timing Heads that were Developed in your Country..As without this New Head (Back in 2004 for you Guys, '05 for the US.) Our Mustang GT Engine for the then All new S197 Mustang just might have never been the Phenomenal Hit that it was (V8 Engine wise anyway) As with those Australian 3V Heads with Variable Camshaft Timing, gave our Beloved Stangs. that Magical 300+HP, and with for the 1st time on a Naturally Aspirated Motor, We were finally treated to some much needed Low End Torque! Heck, without that VCT breakthrough, early on, I seriously Doubt that Not only would the the 5.0 Coyote TiVCT motor have been built in record time, but ALL of the New TiVCT Engines would have been delayed. i.e. the 3.5 Ecoboost! the 3.7 TiVCT that can reside in Both the Fords and Lincoln's!! So by you guys going crazy with those Powerful (Freaking Cool Looking Falcons) You Aussies Really have Much to be Proud of!
Sorry that I went completely off Topic (As I hijacked Your Thread!) I want to again give you a Giant Welcome, and believe Me! You will find a Great Bunch of Members in our (AFM's) "Classic" section of the Site, as we have some of the Most Knowledgeable Members here at Allfordmustangs! And I assure you that YOU WILL ENJOY YOURSELF! Just make sure that you Go and checkout the "Classics" section of the Site.....You can get there by simply either Clicking on the "Forums" Icon, (at the Very top of the Page, right between "Home" and "Gallery") Or you can also just Click on the "Tech" Icon, Right here, by looking to the upper Right of this Page too right in-between "Power Polls" and "Regional"........I really hope to see you using all of our Great resources here, as we have MANY!.....Happy Posting George

Sean.

Thanks for warm welcome. Have been a ford man through and through. First USA classic I have owned but at least I started with one of the best classics ever made. Had a few Aussie muscle cars. Sean... Think the closing of the Ford plant here in Geelong will eventually go ahead. Sales figures speak for themselves. I have been the proud owner of 3 blue oval daily drivers which have all been as we call them utes. Not sure what you guys refer to them ..guess they are like a pickup but only 2 seater... Had one with the quad cam 32 valve 5.4 V8 which I don't think ever made it over there but the SOHC 24 valve did as you mentioned Sean ... In standard trim they were making about 370hp and a couple friends ended up putting super chargers on them making in 700's... Bit of fun for a daily driver ... Will post some pics of my rides.

Please do!

I have been a big fan of the V8 Supercars Series races for a couple of years now (they have been showing the season on tape delay here on Speed for the last 3 or 4 years-not sure if they still will now that Fox Sports 1 has taken over that channel). I crave watching the Bathurst 1000 every year, even if the announcers do talk funny (lol just kidding). The V8 Supercars is some of the best racing on the planet, period. And coming from a NASCAR and Formula 1 fan, that really is saying something.

I am going to try to see if I can't get to the race here in the US at the F1 track in Austin Texas in the next year or 2.

You probably watch and see more of the supercars than I get to. Was a follower a while back and went to a couple races at the local track when they were running there. I honestly never have been to Bathurst 500. It is an all day race pretty much but guys I work with make the pilgramage every year but more so to drink beer. They camp out in the track for 3 days ... They reduced the amount of beer to 2 cartons per person per day I think a couple years ago. Hey , 48 bottles still ain't bad per day ... But don't quote me on that one. Don't want you guys to think that is all we do for 12 hours of the day here .. Then again some do... I usually watch the start for about half an hour and then the wife gets me to do stuff and I finish in time to catch the last half hour of the end. Goes for a good 7 hours.
