That's a real cool dad. I tried to get mine talked into a 69 Mach I back when I was sixteen. He humored me by looking at a few but he wouldn't go for his hot rod son in a Mach I. I never got the taste out of my mouth and now have had three: a 90 GT bought new(sold), an 89 LX 5.0 Coupe (current project), and an 03 Cobra (pure sexy in the garage). Funny thing is I clearly remember the 1985 GT's. A buddy an I were standing on the local Ford lot back in 1985, both of us in college, 19 years old, and nearly in tears because we couldn't afford what we thought was the last of the modifiable mustangs. Back then we knew the computer was coming with fuel injection. Everyone thought the hotrodding of modern cars would be over. The one we looked at was black on black, loaded and ours for under 14 K.....

. My advice at 40 is learn to drive well. Don't hot dog it in the rain (the rear WILL kick out and spin you into a ditch). Be careful since the reason so few 85 GT's survive today is many were abused by young men who didn't respect that the car could KILL them if not driven with care. Other than that, enjoy your car and welcome aboard.
