2005 Mustang V8 GT Premium New Member in Germany Just activated my registration to this Forum. I have had my Mustang Convertible Automatic for almost two years now and love the car. I have had fast cars prior to the Mustang, e.g. BMW 740 and Morgan Plus 8 Roadsters. I use the car mostly for long-distance driving, in view of its comfort, handling and superior acceleration. It has been in Paris, France, Zurich, Switzerland in Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany and last week-end, I drove it about 1400 miles to visit the Netherlands.
I have studied in the USA and travel regularly to Oregon.
In Germany, unless there are speed regulations at some sections of the Freeway (Autobahn), you can drive any speed you want. The New Mustang is a perfectly built car for high speed driving. My car has 12000 miles on it now and I have had it at about 140 Miles/hr various times. I have cruised at speeds of 110/120 miles/hr and for overtaking other vehicles there is plenty of reserve power available.
When you drive fast, with the rest of them, you really do not notice the high speed. The car is relatively quiet, low wind-noise, albeit keeping both hands firmly on the steering wheel is a must. Acceleration is fantastic and very few competitors can keep up with the Mustang.
The car is admired by the crowds. I have added white double rallye striping and white side striping with the Mustang name on it! Seems to go faster yet.
Only problem I have, despite a new gas tank, is the filling of fuel. After a high speed run on the freeway, I dread going to a gas station because it takes so long to fill it. Learned some tips yesterday: wait a few minutes after taking off the gas cap and turn the nozzle when filling. Have not tried it yet. Any more tips?
