Default Bittersweet kill

On the fourth, i raced my buddy in his 79 camaro. we never raced and decided to run'em for no reason. We line up and do some nice burnouts. I foot brake my launch and took him off the line. by the end of the fourth pole, i was at least 6 cars ahead! I keep going to the next stop sign to turn around, when i suddenly hear a lould thud. My trans blew up on me and i was doing 100 plus! i guess i hit a small bump durring the race and one of the trans cooler lines got cut by my flex fan and it dried my trans. the front u joint blew up and my drive shaft took out my shifter and banged up my exhaust. some how the car didnt burst into flames and i was able to control it. All i got to say is that i got lucky on that one. the trans was busted in four pieces and the bellhousing destroyed. I won the race, but i ended up losing anyways.

All things considered, it could have gone a lot worse.

Story sounds pretty far-fetched. How does a flex fan cut a metal trans cooler line from a small bump or big bump for that matter and how does it "dry" and blow a trans out in the same pass? NOT very believable 7tstang70.

ya i thought somone would say that, my hoses have a section of rubber hose that connect the radiator to the hard lines, and i didnt have a fan shrould, i'm not sure if that by its self caused it to fail but that that line had a good sized slash on it. i have a pic of the trans. ill try to put it up, what else do u guys think could of caused it?

Hmm. That trans is definitely broken. Pretty good too. Your story sounded fake but looking at the second pic(first one didn't work) I now believe it. If it happened at high speed/rpms then it could be a few things that might've caused this catastrophic damage-it's a matter of what broke first. I'd hate to see what it did to the bottom of your car. Ouch.

Congrats on the kill with the camaro but with the aftermath of that, that sucks man! The bright side though, atleast now you got a excuse to get a new alum. driveshaft, driveshaft loop, and a new trans with a transbrake

TCI makes a few VERY good c4s for your car-They have the sizzler-only rated to 300hp, and the streetfighter and super streetfighter-450hp and 600hp. I have their AOD streetfighter in my GT and it's awesome. Hard quick shifts and bulletproof too.
