^Their are numerous timeslips out there of bolt-on only 4.0's running low 14's to high 13's... Just because it is a V6 does not mean it cannot gain power. The 4.0 responds to mods as well as or better than the 4.6L 2v does... lmao

BUT, Don't go around talking about s197 4.0 can hang with 5.0 mustangs...cause it's not true .You may have beaten your buddy but that isn't the normal occurance.Now we have all these guys jumping in here and talking about don't be mad cause my v6 beat your v8.....etc.......GET OVER IT ,you bought a v6 and not a v8 ,have fun with it but don't try attacking the v8 owners cause you don't own one .......
I raced a buddy of mine with a s/c 302 w/ full bolt on's.........We raced from a light to about 90-100mph and I beat him....in my stock 5.0.....but am I stupid enough to believe that I beat his car HELL NO.......he's not that good of a driver and he didn't have any traction through 2nd gear.Now the point is I know my car is slower,and I can't go around thinking I can smoke every s/c car cause of this one race......
i agree...good kill. i have a buddy with 2008 4.0 and i've rode in his, it's just about as quick as mine off the line, and pretty sure it would be a close one. we're waiting for me to get a few things taken care of and we're hittin the strip. let ya know how it goes either way!!! at least, in your case, your buddy was beat by a mustang with v6 and not a charger or older camaro. but like the guy above me said, you cant judge all because of one. there are many variables that aren't even being considered right now, but the point is we are glad for your victory, it makes you feel good, we dont want to take away from it, but please just don't get the big head that some people get.

My car doesnt have the best power at high speeds i dont know why i gun it and it just doesnt seem to move to much but i have raced 4.0 and i won but they were right behind me. so its all good. I like it when some one talks smack and then has to eat it. I raced lots of cars and have lost a good bunch but i always have a smile on my face. I just plain enjoy it. Racing Style.

Lol glad to see im not the only one here doesn't believe that a 4.0L v6 beat a 5.0L V8. Like 95BEASTstang said "you beat the driver not the car." At first when I saw your signature I thought it was plausable but then as I read you signature and saw that most of your mods to be honest with you bro are "show mods" they arent really power adders... Just please I hope you understand why us V8 owners(me and 95BEASTstang ) are having a little trouble believing this.

Here is a list of modified 4.0L Mustangs and their times. As you can see the times and mods are listed and for the low N/A times that is not an extensively modified cars. I consider major modifications to include internal work, charging, or Nitrous.
Face it guys. Stock 5.0's were high 14 low 15 seconds cars at best.......
I had an 86 GT and sold it. It was slower than my '01........
First of all , I'm not here saying STOCK 5.0's are FAST !!!!!!The guy who raced the 5.0 also said the 5.0 wasn't stock !!!!!! You v6 guys need to stop getting into the pissing contest with v8's.....
If you had an 86 gt that was slower than a stock 01 v6,you should have sold it cause it was a factory loser !!!!!!!!! You v6 guys can keep thinking 5.0's are SLOW ,just don't give us any ricer excuses when you get beat. lol

The 5.0 is an old out of date motor. It was and still is a cheap motor for performance but it is becoming increasingly out of date.

I don't make ricer excuses and rarely get beat by those slightly modified 5.0's. If you beat me, you beat me, no big deal. I do not get upset like you guys do losing to a V6. The 12 second ones are out of my reach in the '01, but we have a couple more cars around that can do the trick.
I also think that the 5.0's are great modification platforms. Parts are cheap and plentiful and you can open any mag and make a grocery list. Machine shops know how to do the work and tuners know how to tune them......
If your going to stock vs stock, then talk stock vs stock!!!! Once you modify a car AT ALL. It's an open ball park. So a modified V6 beat a modified V8? So what? I've seen V6's run single digit 1/4 miles. . . money can make anything fast. In fact, I was riding in a V6 that smacks my 03 Cobra around like a little girl last thursday. I can testify that 94-95 5.0's are extremely weak (do I dare even tell a newer civic SI it's a v8 after he stomps me?). . . I'd take a newer (I think 2000+) V6 over it in a race any day. It's a fun car though

Let me explain something to you , I never got angry in any posts !!!! I was simply stating my OPINION .....You like v6's ...cool it's still a mustang !!!!! I have no hate for v6's ,i'm not one of those idiots .BUT,when someone comes on here an starts spewing crap about 5.0 are slow yada yada ....get over it if you start with the same 2,000 $ and put the same money into a v6 ....the v8 will always make more power ,obviously the same exact mods are going to yield more power from a 5.0 vs v6..........BUT IF YOU GUYS LIKE V6'S ,GOOD for you ......I hang out with a couple v6 guys and one is faster than me ,but he's got alot of money into his car !!!!!!!!!!

I did not buy a V8 because I did not want one... They are heavy and underpowered. The weight distribution on a V8 is horrible and is hard to overcome for handling purposes. I could care less about straight line racing, I do not think it takes talent. I like road racing, that actually requires skill. A quick V6 can be built cheaper than you would guess.
