Meh, that was better than my experience with a new Camaro owner. While driving back from Baton Rouge yesterday, I encountered a new Camaro coming towards me in oncoming traffic. I threw a thumbs up and he shot me the finger.
Perhaps he read the same C&D article that STERLING351 is referring to.
i just had a run in with a new SS on my way home from work in the Dallas area..... it was a black SS with an older guy driving it..he pulled next to me and looked over and i just knew he wanted to go so we went from a 55 roll to about 120 and i was up by 1.5 and i let off he blew by me...he had pulled into a gas station up ahead and was waving me down so i talked to him for a bit he was bone stock just like the car my fellow texan raced and he was SHOCKED that i out ran him

I'm not all that surprised that you beat him from a 55 roll if your car can run the 1/4 in the high 12's with a relatively slow 2.18 sec. 60' time. Of course, that's also assuming he did not start in either 4th or 5th gear if he was driving a manual.
Im glad to hear it, a co worker of mine keeps tellin me his new 6 cyl. camaro will smoke my stang but I pay no mind. Youve given me all the confidence I need to know hes all talk.

He's got about a second on you stock vs. stock in the 1/4. You just better hope that little 75 shot will be enough. Glad to see you changed your sig!

and the best part is the cover is comparing the new gts! for the price of a SS u can get a damn gt500 which would be a complete joke
Base price of an SS is right around $32,000. About $34,000 for one that isn't "bare bones". You saying you can get a brand new GT500 for close to that? What's your definition of close? I know I've seen some new older models that haven't sold on some lots for about $39,000.....but not '10 models!
A lot of '08-'09's out there for around $39,000 that are technically "new", and a little less money for slighty used ones. I drive my Father in law's '08 'vert all the time. Just a tad over 600rwhp with a TVS blower. VERY FUN car to drive and still hits 15mpg around town.

And the same thing for the GT500 when it was released....and the terminator cobra. They are available for MSRP, you just gotta search to find which dealer isn't marking them up. The hype will be over and the car will go for msrp at all dealers soon. If not you will see a surplus of them at dealers in no time. Why pay $45,000 for a camaro when a 'vette starts around $50,000?

Does the term "Non-price gouging dealers thread" mean anything to you?
Idk bout yall but the majority of these SS camaros are just going to fall into the hands of alot of older guys that cant drive for squat, just like alot of the gt500's that i've seen. I raced an old man last week who ran a 13.83 at 107 MPH with his gt500 ,suffice to say I whooped him, just goes to show that driver means everything with any car.

[quote=Tiger;1595679]He's got about a second on you stock vs. stock in the 1/4.
I would like to start by saying that i saved for a very long time to buy a new SS when it came out. now that being said i test drove one about a month ago when GM brought some to my base to advertise and try to get people to comit to buying them. i have to say that i was impresed buy the build quality but compleatly disapointed in its performance. your statement above is not accurate. i wish it was because i realy love the car. and yes it has a large motor that can be moded very easy but given the current price of the vehicle and lack of stock perfomance for a 426 hp motor i have decided to take the money i have save for the SS in dump it into moding my 05 GT. trust me i wish it had been a 12.5 second car stock but it is not. Sorry http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forum...cons/icon8.gif

You realize I was talking about his '96 gt convertible vs a new v6 camaro. The née camaro is about half a second faster than the gt, but a good 7-8 mph faster. There have been quite a few hitting 13.0's already bone stock in summer weather. It will hit 12.7-12.8's once it cools down. I don't know why a camaro didn't feel fast to you. Did you test drive the auto? Gearing does play a big role and the mustang has slighty steeper gearing that helps it out of the hole, but the lack of hp shows on the top end.
