Default Lesson Learned....

cruising home from football workouts my friend and i are sitting at a stop light with nobody in front of us. another car is beside us i have no clue what it was but it was a 4 door sedan. i do a normal take off and the guy next to us starts pulling away hard. so i floor it. prior to this i have had problems with my driveshaft grinding against my e-brake cables when i have passengers, when i accelerate, and when i go over bumps. Anyways i floor it i sorta catch up but i'm still half a car behind. i'm already at 50 mph on a 40 mph in the middle of the day on a road notorious for cruising cops and half way through 2nd gear plus my drive shaft is grinding and making sounds it shouldnt so i figure i better cut it off. i let of the gas a bit and get to my neighborhood. i'm going through my neighborhood and every time i hit a bump my car chirps. now i got a new noise! instead of grinding i get chirping.... great. we take her back out and sure enough it keeps chirping so now i gotta figure out how to stop it or at least minimize it. anyways i learned today that 1. i probably shouldnt have raced in the middle of the day on a road that has a ton of cops. 2. if a car has problems dont go do stuff that will make it worse. and 3. i should probably wait to go killing till i do some work on the engine because i'm bone stock right now. at first i was embarrassed that i'd lost to a 4 door sedan but then i realized we didnt get fair get offs and my car has 216,300 miles on her. still a little embarrassed but lesson learned

yeah not my day and yes its a 5.0 you have to remember she has 216,300 miles on her. doesnt run like she used to. i didnt even shift past 3rd gear so i didnt stay on it i let off at 50 because my driveshaft was rubbing hard. i'd rather get a little embarrassed than keep going mess up my driveshaft and get really embarrassed when i have to shell out a couple hundred for a new one

Hey man, I feel your pain. A while ago I took an on ramp, and I was booting it pretty hard, pushed in the clutch and heard a pop. When I came up the ramp I couldn't get the car into gear. Then it got worse, I saw a cop right behind me, and you guessed it, party lights. Luckily I didn't get a ticket, but I did destroy my clutch.

Sometimes is just not your day lol.

You'll get her in shape again no worries. I wouldn't feel bad about the sedan. There's one thing in racing... there's another playing catch up. If he started before you then you were playing catch up and those are hard to win.

At the end of the day you still have a Stang.
