When I raced him i didnt even get it past idel...I thought i was gonna win.

But wont revving before i launch make me lose more traction?

well its a stock gt,not a highly modified one,too much width is pointless imo, better off with dot approved street slicks or some street racing tires.and what condition are your tires in?Plus your probaly launching at too high of an rpm.Last, what yr is the 4 runner?

Im thinking 245mm in that range. Tires have an ok amout of tread, but not a whole much. I Runner was a newer model. Maybe 2007 or 2008.

To make it clear to everyone I didnt raise my RPM's one bit befor we went. But i did just go the the nieghborhood again (like 20 min ago) and might have found my sweet spot. At 1500 RPM i take off kinda good. Im gonna definitly get wider tires when i get my new job...

He was asking how to get better traction. Wider tires will do that.

well if the tires dont have much thread, thatd be probaly why.go with as fat as you can using your stock wheels, and get softer compoud tires.look up reviews on tires for more info on which are best.if you really want to launch best just buy a pair of slicks with wheels when u need them.

I thought my buddy had 315s on the rear but today I checked and he has 275s on a 9 inch rim. So im not positive if the 315 will really fit wit no problems but I have heard they will.
Launching from a roll is all good but it dont tell who can get out of the hole fastest. Most rice I know would prefer to go from a dead stop. They are lighter so it is an advantage for them. I dont want to say no my Stang is a hog so I wanna go from a roll.

Dam american cars all they can do is spin.

but u could play it smart and dont floor it off the line.
i have an auto all i do to stop tire spin is give it half throttle which is still alot of takeoff power in a 5.0 then floor it and there u go still win.

Those are the stock 05-09 V6 rims. Those are definitely 215mm & you can spin 'em super easy lol.

Bigger rims will make a hell of a difference. A used set of 05-09 GT rims (235mm) will run you about $400 with tires off Craigslist. Basically less than getting 4 new wider tires haha.

I totally thought you had a Fox, because your avatar had the 5.0 badge!

I think that anything equal to or more than 8" wide can easily have a 255mm tire on it.

If you're gonna get new rims ( ), you should probably get at least 8" wide because you'll always be able to go with bigger rubber if you need it.

Here's some local Saleen rims... They're awesome! The guy is asking too much though. I believe they're all 18x9. Aluminum 18' Saleen Mustang Rims!

Yeah I'm looking to get rim in the near future. Ill look around and maybe find some I really like.

But after tires should I think about better suspension parts?

Something like these:
Black 2010 GT500 Wheel 94-10 (18x9) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Or this:
Black GT4 Wheel 94-04 (18x9) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I wouldn't but from there but that's the style I dig...
