God Im so disappointed in my mustang today! Here is the story...
After school a bunch of my friends wanted to get together and get lunch. We eat our food and start to talk about cars and what not, you know...guy stuff. So a friend of mine brings up that he has never driven and doesnt have his license. So we figure we would go to an empty neighborhood ( still under construction not a house around for miles) and try to teach him to drive. So i get there first in the Stang and one of my friend in a Toyota 4Runner pulls up next to me and asks me to race down the empty neighborhood. Of course I knew i was gonna win and said sure. So we line up and he says go. I gun it and i spin my tires for a good 3-4 seconds before i get traction. And he is already about 1-2 cars ahead of me. Well as i start to catch up the road ended...So now i get a lot of crap from him saying his v6 import kicked my american muscle ass...I need some kind of suspension upgrade or something, maybe wider tires?
But after we raced i told him to do a 15 MPH role before we start and of corse he says no. So now im on the hunt for better traction....
if you werent racing in a construction zone i bet you wouldnt of goten so much spin i bet the road was covered in dirt an rocks

I think the cheaper route would be to develop a gentle and caressing right foot. if you come out of the gates stabbing the pedal into the carpet, you will lose.
practice launching, because even if you get drag radials and a full suspension, it still won't work if you can't moderate that gas pedal.

Just set your suspenion up right and learn how it likes to be launched, I can get my car to hook on the street and its around 420rwhp on motor and 390rwtq on some 275/40/17 mickey thompson drag radials
Those are the stock 05-09 V6 rims. Those are definitely 215mm & you can spin 'em super easy lol.
Bigger rims will make a hell of a difference. A used set of 05-09 GT rims (235mm) will run you about $400 with tires off Craigslist. Basically less than getting 4 new wider tires haha.
I totally thought you had a Fox, because your avatar had the 5.0 badge!
how wide are those stock 05-09v6 rims? less than 8"?
Instead of running out and spending a ton of money on stuff you may or may not need, why don't you just learn to launch your car? The mod that makes the biggest difference for any car is the driver mod...

I think they are 16x7"
My current wheel/tires are the stock 99-04 V6 15x7" with 205s on them. I have a set of 03-04 GT premium wheels with 255s waiting to go on. Even my V6 will spin those 205s all day on a 1500+ launch.

I agree that if ya just practice your launches you will be able to hook better. Since the car is stock...now once ya get some more power outa her then work and spend some bucks on the suspension and tires. But if ya do get tires my new 17x10.5 wheels on 315's hooks pretty well with my power.

what it comes down to is.....u have a mustang and broke the tires loose. caught traction and started catching him...there for you would of won if there was longer road.....nothing to be ashamed of. your friend doesnt wanna do it at a roll bcuz he knew that youd catch him and pass easyer at a roll there for he'd lose.
simple as that.
but if you do wanna get better traction. Limited slip if its a sixer or just get Wider tires maybe 3:73 or 4:10 gears ?
