God Im so disappointed in my mustang today! Here is the story...
After school a bunch of my friends wanted to get together and get lunch. We eat our food and start to talk about cars and what not, you know...guy stuff. So a friend of mine brings up that he has never driven and doesnt have his license. So we figure we would go to an empty neighborhood ( still under construction not a house around for miles) and try to teach him to drive. So i get there first in the Stang and one of my friend in a Toyota 4Runner pulls up next to me and asks me to race down the empty neighborhood. Of course I knew i was gonna win and said sure. So we line up and he says go. I gun it and i spin my tires for a good 3-4 seconds before i get traction. And he is already about 1-2 cars ahead of me. Well as i start to catch up the road ended...So now i get a lot of crap from him saying his v6 import kicked my american muscle ass...I need some kind of suspension upgrade or something, maybe wider tires?
But after we raced i told him to do a 15 MPH role before we start and of corse he says no. So now im on the hunt for better traction....
I see you're from Gilbert! I was able to spin my tires today very easily, just gassing it a little. We're so used to 115 degree weather and 130 degree pavement that spinning the tires can be surprising.
It at least was for me!

What size wheels would would you say I should get?
Yeah that is true. It was a nice day out today. But I dont ever hook up great even when it was 110 outside lol.
That kinda happened to me. I removed the spare and some other stuff before I decided to race a honda. Well I did a huge burnout, by the time I hooked up he was hitting 3rd, sucked!! and it was a coworker!!. So far I have did everything in my signature and dont plan on stopping soon.
I'd say always know what rpm to launch without burning off.
Seems a low rpm launch would be better than a little to high so try to shoot low. Even if he were to get ya off the line hopefully you can catch them or at least it will be way closer than watching them drive away. A 315 will fit on the rear of a 95 with aftermarket 10.5" rims, but if its lowered then I don't know.
Put the battery close to the right rear wheel in the trunk. Removing weight from the front would be key, like a aftermarket K member, hood and aluminum heads. Could remove a/c and smog pump. Tubular front sway bar or no sway bar. Drag shocks like 70/30.
Not to mention all the control arms and different rear suspension choices like 3 link or 5 link.
I'm keeping my ps and ac and I don't feel drag shocks are in my future. I guess it depends on what ya want and what your goals are.

Instead of going out and buying new stuff, just the next few stop lights you are at, do a mild launch. Find out what rpm your car can handle before the tires spin on launch. With my Eagle GT's on the automatic I usually end up doing a burn out before I spin the tires, but that's just a lack of power with too much traction.

The first gen SN95's were a bit more refined suspension-wise compared to the last Fox body in 93. You just need to tweak it a bit. I agree that a 17x10.5 running a 315 would be good for out back. Again, practice and find your sweet spot for launching. Once you get your launches nice and sticky then you can think about a gear upgrade and leave everyone in the dust!
