The way I see it is, if you want to kill yourself in a firery wreck. Than go for it, aslong as no innocent bystanders are effected by you doing so.

It's your car, your life, whatever puts a smile on your face and makes the day to day grind bearable, than i dare not bar you from it. Just try and do it as safely as possible.

the thing is you cant possibly take every contingency into account and guarantee that NOONE could possibly ever get hurt from it besides you... well maybe you could.. but most cases you cant.. best not to risk it

I agree there is no way you can possibly account for everyone else on the road's actions. You dont know if they will switch lanes or slow down or what have you.

But any way, The scariest thing ive done in my stang was one day after a good hard rain I was going to pick up my girlfriend with a friend of mine, and wanted to show him the ppower of the stang! (It was shortly after I bought it) I make a left hand turn and floor it in 1st. Spin a little so I hit 2nd. Tires break free agian and the car pitches sideway. I jam the breaks in a panic and throw it the other way. then back on the gas. I think i fish-taled a gooe 5-6 times from lane to lane. Almost hitting 2 oncoming cars. Ive gotten much better at controlling her since then. But it was scary as I had no clue how to control it.

I have 3...

#1 -
When I just got my car, I was dumb just like we all are at 18-19. It was Friday night, summertime, and I had just got off work at 11pm. Hit the cruise spot and I picked up a tail... mine was white with a red beltline stripe, his was white with a purple stripe. This guy follows me for at least 20 minutes and we find a red light. We take off like normal - door to door - then I mash the gas and we take off hard. I crest the hill in front of our Pizza Hut at over 100 mph and... someone pulled out. It was some mom and pop car with 4 old women in it (funny how you notice things even at high speed). I wasn't going to stop in time, neither was the other guy, so I hit the center left-turn-only lane and so did he. That's when I swore against street racing because too many things can happen, not to mention it's illegal and you can lose your car to the law.

#2 -
I was on Phoenix International Raceway in a Bob Bondurant car with other drivers. We were around 140 in a curve and the guy in front of me hits some oil or other fluid, something caused him to spin right in front of me and hit the wall. But when he spun, we were nose to nose and he looked right at me.

#3 -
I was in a friends car (high 10 second 1970 Nova) and the guy in the other lane threw a rod. No biggie. When I got back to the pits after the run, I found out it kicked out right beside me but missed me. If I would've been hit with a rod, whooo boy.

Sounds like fun I'm in! Just messin! Look, the way I see it is, if some one wants a dose and you use common sense and get him of the take off in town or find an empty 2 or 4 lane 1/4 mile, yes they do exsist, then have fun and be safe. Accidents happen and you might get ran over going to the grocery store, who knows? But unfortunatly some people don't have common sense, so we call that population control

How flawed is that....... I clearly stated you may be right on this issue (although I can't believe you have never broken any driving law along these lines) but to say something is wrong because society has deemed it illegal is flawed thinking. Not arguing with your opinion. I'm arguing with your justification. I can think of many issues throughout history in which something was illegal. I can also say that defiance against those acts which were illegal was completely justified. You have the moral high ground, it's just that your supporting artillery is pointed into it.

so im just feeling a need to jump in here. I HAVE street raced before. It is a really really bad decision people out there say things like oh if im not harming anyone its okay... WHATEVER! you have no f-ing clue who is going to be down the road. it takes a matter of seconds to ruin a life just because you wanted to go fast to race the stupid rice burner next to you on your way home from taco bell. I have been in plenty of HOLY SH*T moments to tell you that street racing is a crime for a reason. people DIE everyday being stupid on the road. DONT DO IT! take it to the track where it counts. that was the best thing i ever did as far as racing goes. learn what your car can really do. learn how to drive. and understand why racing is a sport(unlike smoking weed... thats just plain stupid).

with that said...

My street racing stories

1. went for a drive with my dad. he was on his ducati im in the mustang. pulled up on an EMPTY road...(yes i was stupid)... we took off not really racing i mean... its a ducati lets be for real here... ended up getting pulled over both of us getting matching reckless tickets and 14 hours of driving classes along with 3 month restricted license... that stays on your record for 11 years...

2. lost control in the rain... had just done some suspension work and the roads were very very slick. i spun out and slammed into a curb bent my rear axle front and back passenger side wheels... i ended up heading head first at a pathfinder and was able to pull it together and get back on the road. it sucked

3. when i was 16 i got my first mustang.(red 97 v6) being 16 i didnt know anything about anything... so i figured the tires on my new car were also... new... they werent. I took off around down the road and made a turn onto the highway. lucky for me there were hardly anyone on the road and everyone who was had stopped at the red light. I join traffic and feel my rear end slip my car spins sideways and i let off the gas. i tried to gain control again but the cars momentum kept pushing it around. ended up pulling a full 360 and just kept on rolling like nothing happened. SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME

Be careful on the road

TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!

3.

the only thing really wrong with racing on the street is poor judgement. meaning, the inexperience of a driver, the location of the race, the improper maintenance of the car or cars. There has to be some rationale when one decides to do this and be ready for the consequences. if there is no one around, then there are no innocent people injured. only the willing participants.
I am not condoning my actions when I decide to race, and I am not going to put anyone else around me in danger when I do it.

and all my street kills happen in Mexico.
