Long Version:
coming up on a red light, me in the left, 05+ V6 Mustang in the middle, Viper (unknown year) in the right. The right lane ends and has to merge to the middle lane about 1/8 of a mile after the intersection. I am at the light and look over at the guy in the Viper and he is looking at me. I smile and do the head nod thing.
It's on.
I am watching the cross lights to go yellow, then waiting for the cars to make their left turn from the opposite direction. last car goes through and I select 1st gear and wait for the green. When the light goes green, I jump out and look to see if the Viper is going to nail it and I see he is about half a car behind me. but, since I am accelerating a little harder than normal, I know he is about to nail it too. So, I go WOT with plenty of room in front of us. all through 1st he didn't gain or pull on me (but that gear lasts all of 2 seconds). I hammer 2nd and my rear tires break loose. By the time I get traction, the Viper starts to pull on ahead and switch to the middle lane. I shut it down at 60 (50 mph zone) and so does he.
I knew I would lose, but I didn't know by how much. He probably wasn't all the way into it. but, maybe he was since it was such a short race. if we had gone through 3rd, he would have put bus lengths on me. as it turned out, it was a car and a half.
fun never the less and the guy wasn't arrogant about the beat down I received.

Similar story for me...going home the other night got beside a older vette...03 or 04...sat at the light he ws looking at me ...and went green gave it a little and both of us jumped on it...yeah, he spanked me..but it was fun.

I would love to run a Viper or something, I never come across cars like that when Im in my stang. You are lucky you got to run one.
you would stand a better chance at beating one than I did. I think when I do a power adder like an supercharger, I will also be investing in wheels and tires. I really burned up 2nd gear and I shoulda lifted a bit sooner to regain traction sooner.

lol its fun just to see some of these cars get on it, theres alot of rich people where i live, ive messed with a f430 ferrari, i was about 4-5 cars behind by the time i hit 60 lol, and a murcialago, i was driving by and wanted to see the thing go, started messing with him, then next thing i know he went by me like i just locked up the wheels.
