Yeah, I'm not one to try to run from cops or anything but I knew waiting really couldn't be any better idea than just going home. No one has showed up yet but the Stang hasn't left. I'll be Jeepin' it for a few days.
But you have to remember you cant out run a motorola, you got real lucky man

highways empty,no lifes in danger except yours and his,and im sure u know that.same with any racer.its amazing how germany has the autobahn, and america has cops.and since the law decided street racing is a felony, they put officers in danger.as itll run mentioned, yea what if one of you hit the cop.but its the racers fault right?not the cops for crossing the median? this race wasnt even dangerous until that cop put himself in danger for doing his job.you guys would have let off and everything would have been fine.if i were the cop,id let it go before down the highway hes chasing the evo and then someone gets in front of either of them.In the end,its all money for the city.if they cared so much, theyd build tracks. and tracks are just as dangerous too, thats the risk of getting an adrenaline rush.we all take risk, and the funny part is that when street racing only thing we think about is,"i hope thats not a cop"i say america needs its own autobahn.but then again, all those women on cell phones would kill us all, speeding or not.
Why dont they work on laws about elderly drivers, and idiot drivers.yes street racing is dangerous, but only to an extent.at 4 am in the morning,no traffic, its still dangerous, but only to the racers. You know what nevermind, americas too greedy to do anything that makes sense.
wow that is scary hope you kept your seat clean. i had a buddy who did that same thing on the interstate doing 120 and a cop ran across the median throwing up dirt and everything but the prelude he was racing took the first ramp and the cop chased him while my buddy jus slowed down and got away. im sure the other guy wont be driving again. you are lucky
I agree with who ever said just have some fun hitting 0-what ever the speed limit is...maybe 5 or 10 over.
I am also guilty of passing a car and looking down then realizing I am 20+ over the limit. It happens kinda fast in a fast car.
I would NEVER drive a car at those speeds...although on the highway where the speed limit is 70+..have hit 100 in 4th just for a second or two.....a few times. I guess i should say, i would never race at those speeds on public roads
Having said that, in Atlanta....going 20 or 30 over the limit is just RIDING with....THOUSANDS of other cars if its rush hour...and NO ONE EVER seems to get pulled. For example, its 55 on I85 from here to work and the AVERAGE car is going 70-80, no one is pulled. Go out at 10 at night and drive the SAME speed.... your pulled. Go figure.

i dunno allentown...youre just keeping with the flow of traffic? its like that up here too. i dont get it.
to the OP im glad everything turned out ok and its just a lesson learned. props on beating the evo. i drove one with 350 at the wheels. it was sick. thats with light mods.
i was cruising home on some backroads going way to fast on a two lane road i came up over a hill and a cop was going the other way. i did get that oh **** feeling. he flipped on his lights so i pulled over and waited for like 2 full minutes.....he never turned around so i just cruised home. i might have taken some backroads and zig zagged home but maybe he was responding to a call.
oh yea and take it to the track its safer and stuff blah blah blah.

dude i would seriously be crapping my pants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've gotten that oh **** feeling but i get that feeling whenever i drive near a cop for some reason. whenever i see a cop i slow it down.
The cop probably wanted the Evo more because it ran, and was too excited about getting your plate. Because you stopped he thought you would be a good boy and wait for another cop to come along and write the ticket. But, keep this in mind guys; you can out run the car, but not the radio. Especially, if there is another cop in the area

I'm very surprised he didn't get you and call ahead for the EVO. Based on what I've seen over the years that is what has always happened. The losing car loses twice. For whoever thinks the Crown Vic with 126mph top speed and 16 second quarters can catch an Evo had better plan on the Evo hitting heavy traffic. It takes something confiscated and put on patrol to catch the faster performance cars of this era. His dash cam has your plate since his lights and siren were on. Better plan on an attorney to cover drag racing and evading arrest.

He should have an attorney anyway. That being said, there is no proof he was racing. A radar can only track 1 target. Since he pulled over and the other guy ran there is no way to prove he was speeding along with the other guy-deny deny deny.
Nor can a cop tell you not to leave- your either physically detained ie under arrest or facign the possibility of arrest or your not. If your not under arrest your free to go. Once a cop leaves his commands are null. Plus a cop cannot issue an unlawful order. Sitting on the side of the highway is dangerous that is why cops sit in the median and if behind a pulled over motorist use lights to warn on coming traffic.
