Default 2001 Cobra vs. my 1998 Cobra

I'm only guessing it was an 01 Cobra, because I can't beat an 03-04 SC Cobra.

I was waiting to turn on to a canyon road sitting at the light and I notice Mustang in front of me. After closer examination I notice the exhaust and know instantly it has IRS. Must be a cobra!

Oh yeah, it's fun time! We roll onto the canyon road. He steps on it a bit, and he def has an exhaust on it. My car is pretty loud, so I know see's me behind him. But, he won't run

We go through the canyon road and approach the freeway on ramp, he steps on it a bit. I do the same and keep right on him. We enter the freeway on ramp at a 15mph roll with me behind him and I drop it into 1st for what I know is going to be a rocket launch onto the freeway. Sure enough, he hits it, but I think he is 2nd and keep right up on him. He is def. fast for sure, but I wring out my car good!

We fly up onto the freeway accelerating in third and I'm still right behind him. I'm not sure what speed, but we are moving. Up on the freeway, we slow down, we get side by side doing about 70mph now, he gives my car the eye up and down to see, I think what he has not been able to leave behind. I slowly ease down to about 60mph, because I know we are going to make another run and I want to be in my sweet spot in 3rd when we go.

sure enough, there just happens to be empty freeway in front of us, in SoCal no less. So, I drop it down in 3rd, still at about 60mph. He hears my exhaust, and I hear him drop it down a gear or two. His exhaust sounds mean, but I don't hear the whine of an SC?? I wait for him to make the first move.

He hits and I'm ready. 3rd gear goes by pretty quick, and I'm ahead by half a car length. I slam 4th and start to really pull him by about a good car length. We are moving pretty fast, and he shuts down. I decide to really burst his bubble and I just keep on it. I pull away by several car lengths and never look back . He never attempts to approach me again.

I was proud of snake! I hate to take down another fellow Cobra and promised myself, no more rolling races, but I just couldn't help myself! Anyways it was fun. I wish he would came back up, I would have given him a thumbs up and maybe stopped to talk with him.

And Yes, it was a real Cobra, unless someone went to the trouble of putting an IRS in a GT.

well I believe you :
I really think our car ( 96-98 Cobra ) got good pickup from a roll. Especially when drop to 3rd on the freeway. Gotta use the sweet spot :thumbsup
I once race a late model camaro ss ( 01/02 ), got infront of me & start revving. So I drop it on 3rd & it was on. I stayed right behind him until I slap it on 4th and start gaining on him pulled right next to him and he slowed down after that. I wouldnt even think of racing this guys from a stop ( Yeah i would , I just hope they missed shift or bad driver behind it). But on the freeway it's a different story.

I agree. I don't know what it is, but on the freeway, I seem to pull on all my friends modd'd GT's, who run a pretty tight race from a stop. Maybe it's my knew Zaino wax job, it's so slick it cuts through the air? LOL

Oh MANA!!....stop picking on me! I can tell, we are going to have make a run soon. Just don't look in my trunk
