A few summers ago I had my first motor (stock), most of my bolt ons, and a 100 shot. I was on top of the world. I raced a NOSed up 95 GT, smoked him, Then a nice C5, smoked him too. I decided to go up against a silver Viper that showed up at our local races one time. I lined up with him, and pulled about a car length off the line, I was so excited! I fully though I was winning. A second later, the Viper screams past me, fish-tailing the back end, tires in smoke, and no hope for traction. Little did I know, he had a 350 shot. That experience humbled me just a bit. But you'll never know what you can beat unless you race it. So NEVER back down!

Oh!!! Believe me, I know there are many faster cars then mine running around these streets. I almost got beat by a ......HONDA! an S2000. I was just playing with him and almost pulled me. I learned right then, no more playing. I give it everything or nothing!
I don't have an ego. OK...maybe a little :thumbsup I have never lost yet, but I know my time is coming. That is kind of what started this thread. I couldn't believe my near stock Cobra was so feared.
BUT!! I do know how to drive. I have been racing down the 1/4 for many years! Sadly

Sounds like it's time for a new set of rims and a different paint job, Glen.
You could maybe even get some bumpers and a hood and decklid from a V6,
remove the Cobra badges for safe-keeping, and then, even the lowliest ricers
will want to line up. Imagine the crushed hopes of ignorant new ricers who
think that even a V6 Stang is that much faster than the ugly, slow, and cheap
car they are driving.
i hear you on that, i got revved today by a v6 camaro with a dual exhaust. i couldn't contain the smile/laugh. My cobra will soon be the super sleeper of the town. besides the fog lights and rear tail lights i am going to have my side exhaust, a V6 rear bumper cover and take all my svt badges off. i never get challenged in town/only looked at and its starting to get a little boring!

lol, I love a car like that. Everyone will ook and think you're some weak v6. Pull up beside a z28 and take him. Shock him. Scare him. Make him think that he just got taken by a v6 :thumbsup

I thought about going the sleeper route. But I just love the mean look of my Cobra to much, not to mention the wicked sounding exhaust. I mean, it is a full 3" exhaust and this baby sets off car alarms because it has so much bass. I think when people hear it, they think OMG!....what does have under there
But, I'm not getting bored. I had about 5 races in the past week. I think people around here have the new hot rods and have not been into cars long. They don't really know what a cobra is...YET!
But I hear you. Those who know, and I really want to run, many times won't. If you make your car look like a V6, you will get attacked by ricers. Trust me, I got a V6 also. I see plenty of action in that car. I get buzzsed all the time. I don't lose to many races in it either, mostly because only ricers want to go at it.

I have the same thing going around with the reputation thing. Im now a sophmore in college but had my stang since junior year in highschool. I drove past the school everyday and everyone noticed. But now that my sister is in the highschool she has kids coming up to her knowing all about my recent motor additions when i have basically told no one. MY sister always jokes with them cause she knows i like to race and there all like no way! that car is sick! Hahah, i have mac headers, an h pipe with no cats and dynomax ultraflo...it doesnt sound like any stang ive ever heard and ive had drivers not wanna race me cause they dont believe me when i say its a 302. I love it.. reputation rules! that is until it reaches the local police station...UHHHHGGG
