That depends on how I'm driving. Sometimes I think I'd rather not think about that. Not all of them have my superior driving skills
Now seriously...
First off, I do agree that if you do decide to speed, and even if you don't, that you are responsible for your own actions, don't point fingers, unless there is just cause. Don't point fingers at let's say, the new 05 op ahead that is "distracting me" because it's so gorgeous. But I think the guy that came over may be a little more than just 1/3 responsible. For instance, one time I was in an accident. The guy glided through a stop sign on my right, got into his lane (the right lane) and then cut right over and hit me. Now, even if I had been street racing at the time (but I wasn't), it would be completely his fault, IMO. He should never have just come over like that, it doesn't matter what I was doing. He should have checked to see if the lane was clear or not. That's my reasoning for pinning at the very least, some of the blame on the guy who cut over.
If someone does something wrong and it contributes to the accident then they should be partially to blame,
In the scenario you gave I would have to ask were you injured, what was the dollar amount of damage to your car?
Now you said even if I had been street racing (I know your were not but lets assume) you were street racing and traveling at 100mph….when he turned into you and caused the crash think you would still not be injured? Do you think your car would have the same dollar amount ?
You could also go back and say in the scenario that started this thread, had they not been street racing and they were following the speed limit then they would not of been there when the guy pulled out so what does it matter that he pulled out at all…………….
I don’t believe this but it is the other side of the argument…………….

And it's a valid arguement. I'd never assessed it from that side before...

you know this whole talk of getting cut off has acctually been something thats been on my mind for a while. Now that i officially have 4 tickets for speeding on my record i have finnaly decided to slow down. but all this dose is create more problems for me! now that i leave a good 3-4 car lengths inbetween the car in front of me and myself, people are ALWAYS coming into my lane and Pissin me off! eather i have to ride someones ass and risk rear ending them, or leaving to much space inbetwwen me and the other car and getting run off the road or something. and im not talking about one car, i mean like two or three trying to squeeze in between me and the car in front of me. Let me tell you, driving really tests my patience....Also, sorry about your car man, but atleast you wern't ran off the road and hit a pole or something like that. at speeds like 90 it is hard to stay in control. main reason when i race i cut it off around 65-70. otherwise it is pointless, and my top end is like poop!
indeed... I hate it when people squeeze in because I leave lots of room. That space ain't for you... it's for ME. Stay out!
the worst is when I'm doing, oh about 78 in a 70 and there's someone in the other lane doing maybe 71... then ahead of him is an 18-wheeler doing 55. So of course the guy doing 71 is going to pass him, but half the time instead of speeding up to match the speed of the left lane, he'll slow down and do the pass at 66-67, and I'm stuck tawdling.
I once saw a sign in Wyoming... "don't be at the front of a tailgate party!". In other words, go a reasonable speed! Not 92 in a 70, but not 67 either!

I hate that idiot behind the semi. Sometimes I think they pull out to pass
because they saw you coming. You can learn to spot these situations and
get through them before they arise. Usually the only thing that will speed
the idiot up is someone passing the same semi from the right lane.
What about the morons who, when they see that they're being passed,
speed up, trapping the passer in the passing lane. I like to (AS LONG AS
I'M NOT HOLDING ANYONE UP BEHIND ME) pass the morons and watch them
speed up. I then speed up accordingly and then travel next to them for a
quarter of a mile or whatever until they reach traffic in their lane and have
to slow down. I've slowed my pace to do this - even though it probably
doesn't teach them anything. Usually if you just power on by, you can lift
and slow down as soon as you pass them, and they will still fade back. I
think most of them don't even realize they're doing it.
The golden rule of the road should be: Stay the heck out of other peoples'
way - it's just common courtesy. It should be the first thing they teach new
drivers. You would look like a rude jerk if you were holding someone up (who
was in a hurry) on a downtown sidewalk.
Race the clock, not other drivers.
Maybe Wyoming should set the standard for the country, it sounds like they
understand. Get over it, people are always going to speed.

Our Moron Density Index (MDI) here in the Bay Area is about 2-3 drivers per linear mile.
That's, realistically, pretty damn high.......
I KNOW it has something to do with the 'immigrant factor' and their refusal to assimilate.
