05 GT cant touch a 03-04 Cobra. And if he took off why could you catch him. Just doesnt make sense. I put 95,000 on a 99 Cobra & have 20k on a 04 Cobra less then 12 months old. Anytime you want to race I will make you look like you have a three speed with a flower basket & a kickstand. You can be one of the worst drivers in the world and maybe at launch you can get ahead but after that you will get WASTED. Just cant believe some of the BS on these sites.

Hate to be a jerk, but as a fellow Cobra owner ('03 vert), there is indeed no way in hell, an 05 GT will do anything but get left by someone in an 03-04 Cobra. To imply otherwise is ludicrous. We have more at the wheels than an 05 GT makes at the crank.

Who's spending major dollars? I've saved well over $10,000 over the course of the loan including insurance, gasoline, and maintenance costs.
I haven't spent nearly that much.
And I've already beaten two GTs.

My daughter in her '01 GT would dance around any V6, I have seen around this forum. Quit dreaming and get yourself some real muscle.
I beat a 95 GT (it only has, what?215 hp? and weight 250 lbs more than mine) and a 87-93 GT.
I'm running 220 hp. not a stretch, my man!

i think the cobra guys are getting a little pissed. the man wasnt saying he beat the cobra he was saying he beat the driver. he even stated he would win if he was in the cobra. anyone who has been racing for a while knows someone who can drive will beat someone who cant, even if they are 50 hp down (<--- made up no.).
03-04 cobras hall ass. we all know it.... but so do 05 gt's.lol. had to do it. i mean i have one!

I agree yes the 03-04 Cobra's are baddd asss. Yes the 05 is quick as well ( haven't gotten mine yet ) here are times for many year stangs first time is the 0-60 followed by the 1/4 mile and yes it showed a factory stock cobra at 12.9 in the 1/4 for 03-04, but with some tweeking the 05 is right there. I hate to say this but the V6 in the earlier stangs are nothing more than boat anchors. How do I know this, I had to replace many a blown head gaskets on them, the perks of turning wrenches for 16 years on Fords.. Sorry, but when I hear and see people who spend either Mommy and Daddies hard earned $$$$ or they worked hard and spent there own to put all the mods to get more power out of these things ( V6 ) and knowing whats down underneath it all, it's a waste. Look at it this way, you just dumped how much to get your V6 faster, when you could have bought and I agree here as well, a GT with a few mods and would be a lot faster. Just think about Torque from a V6 vs. a V8. Not trying to pi$$ off any V6 owners but come'on folks, seen too many young kids with V6 power around here who think there bad ass.

Dude, I'm 36 and spending my own money. And it's awfully nice for your case that you didn't specify the 95 v6 time is for an auto. -And it's still faster than a 66 289 auto.
The times for the 99+ including the 05 are 7.1 to 60, and 15.3 in the quarter. faster than any GT until 1985. And faster than atuo GTs until 1999.
Nice of you to dump those stats as well, in favor of the Cobra.

Anyone (without bashing me) know ANYTHING I can do to a 2.3 non-turbo to give it some more balls? ANYTHING? By the way, it's not cool to bash the V-6's, cause the newer ones have almost as much power as the 5.0s from the 90's. I'm actually thinking of swapping one into my 92 lx to have a "sleeper" if that's possible with a Mustang. No dual exhaust, nothing to give it away, andf anyone who knows their stuff will think I only have a 105hp 2.3, no turbo or anything
