Anyone (without bashing me) know ANYTHING I can do to a 2.3 non-turbo to give it some more balls? ANYTHING? By the way, it's not cool to bash the V-6's, cause the newer ones have almost as much power as the 5.0s from the 90's. I'm actually thinking of swapping one into my 92 lx to have a "sleeper" if that's possible with a Mustang. No dual exhaust, nothing to give it away, andf anyone who knows their stuff will think I only have a 105hp 2.3, no turbo or anything
the 2.3L has a long history of racing.
quickest way is to convert to turbo with upgraded plumbing and an air to air intercooler.

I agree yes the 03-04 Cobra's are baddd asss. Yes the 05 is quick as well ( haven't gotten mine yet ) here are times for many year stangs first time is the 0-60 followed by the 1/4 mile and yes it showed a factory stock cobra at 12.9 in the 1/4 for 03-04, but with some tweeking the 05 is right there. I hate to say this but the V6 in the earlier stangs are nothing more than boat anchors. How do I know this, I had to replace many a blown head gaskets on them, the perks of turning wrenches for 16 years on Fords.. Sorry, but when I hear and see people who spend either Mommy and Daddies hard earned $$$$ or they worked hard and spent there own to put all the mods to get more power out of these things ( V6 ) and knowing whats down underneath it all, it's a waste. Look at it this way, you just dumped how much to get your V6 faster, when you could have bought and I agree here as well, a GT with a few mods and would be a lot faster. Just think about Torque from a V6 vs. a V8. Not trying to pi$$ off any V6 owners but come'on folks, seen too many young kids with V6 power around here who think there bad ass.

I can't speak for all of the cars on this list, but I don't think the 03/04 Cobra times are correct.....and why no mach 1 on that list? MM&FF ran back to back runs of 13.1 with a bone stock Mach (not even upgraded tires, and several registry owners have also ran those times stock). The 05+ GT's aren't too far off from that mark, but not quite there.
Also, I think you need to actually go race an 03/04 Cobra to appreciate how bad they really are. I've had the pleasure of getting my azz whooped by several of them. The only 1 I've ever beat was a bone stock 04 vert. So I wouldn't start getting too cocky about a few tweeks and your right there with a Cobra cause it's just not true.

It's on a Musclecar website. It's been posted several times before, but he always leaves off the 99+ times. This is a copy of a copy.
The numbers come from various magazines, but when you mix and match magazines, you're going to get a lot of variance, simce some are tested in California, Some in Michigan, etc., which have a lot of variance in conditions.
Whoever posted the list should have listed the sources, since it's kind of plagiarism, and there's no way to tell where they were tested, and how they were tested.
Like Hot Rod tends to get rid of the junk in the trunk, run 1/4 tank of gas, throw on drag radials, and go all out for the best times, while others test the car, as is, with a full tank of gas.
You can't really compare them unless they come from the same source with the same testing regimen.
If you stay with the SAME magazine, then you'll know it was at the same track, with the same test driver (since they usually stay on for a number of years), with the same testing methods (bone stock v.s. best case scenario).

Well said.....I would also throw any times out that came from C/D or Motortrend cause they can't drive mustangs worth a crap!

I really love the shoulda coulda racers-ricers whatever. I once knew a guys brother that was dating a girl who's uncles dad's cousin had a 500+cid race prepped motor in a vega that ran 7's.
The point is with any amount of money any monkey can buy speed. Why can't he be proud of his v-6 mustang and that be that. IF I win the lottery there will be a ungodly fast 02 mustang in my garage. For now it's fast enough.
Bench racing and if I would have done this or that is stupid. I bet that the v-6 auto is a hell of alot more consistant than a 350rwhp 5 speed, so go ahead and spin through 1st, second and maybe fishtail in 3rd and lose to a v-6. Where did that motor swap get you? All in all the best mod you can get is free-----learn to drive YOUR vehicle. I have beat many "faster than mine cars" at the track. Not because I am faster but I out drove them. No, I didn't put 5 cars on an ls1 but a win is a win. My 02 is right behind them waiting for a screw up.

Sorry dude, but you are the ricer. How can you have a stock V6 mustang, and take out 2 stock Automatic Civic DXs on the freeway and be all proud of yourself? Your car is SLOW. If I were racing somone on the freeway and you came up believe me, your car (or even a stock Cobra or GT) would not keep up. Some of you need to get off your high horses and realize that mustangs aren't the gods gift to the auto industry. Especially when you have the slowest mustang (v6). You Ricer

Hate to be a jerk, but as a fellow Cobra owner ('03 vert), there is indeed no way in hell, an 05 GT will do anything but get left by someone in an 03-04 Cobra. To imply otherwise is ludicrous. We have more at the wheels than an 05 GT makes at the crank.
