My 96 GT stayed door to door with a 01-up GT on the interstate with my car only running on 7 cylinders and both cars in 4th gear from 70mph to about 95mph. I could'nt belive it myself. My cars mods are listed in my sig and thats all i've got. WTF!!!! My car was missin so bad it was backfireing off and on. If my car was runnin on all 8 I woulda pulled him easily. Don't the 01 & up GT's have like 40 more H.P. with the PI heads?
No, it was 4th I heard him shift down when he pulled along side. Win or lose I really dont care, I have fun either way. Besides it really doesnt matter how fast your car is, someone will have one thats faster somewhere. I just have alot of fun racin. I just wish some people dont get pissed when they lose. Just have fun dammit!!!
Dude, everyones out to get me now... It sucks. I'm not really down for racing on the street so much anymore... Ever since I raced a LS1 camaro with my lady in the car, I can't ever do it again... I scared the crap outta her and I just felt so so bad. So anytime I race from now on, it's just going to be me in the car, or at the track.
WOW ! you have 260hp with only 7 cylinders, in a relatively stock 96 GT ! imagine if you were running all 8, you would be beating COBRA`S ! COME ON DUDE !
If you don't belive me then go read another thread. Anyways it looked like a GT and sounded like one too, but for all I know it coulda been a damn V6 with loud pipes and GT wheels & badging. Im not tryin to say my car is faster than a newer GT, I just thought it was odd that he did'nt pull on me like it shoulda.
Well, in my opinion HIGH ROLL RACES are garbage. A roll race from say 60 or less is better. ANd why 4th gear at 70? I would have dropped to 3rd. I believe you. But at the same time I do not believe if you were running on all 8 cylinders that it would have changed the outcome.

Well like I said, it was missing and backfirein a little, but it didnt seem like it lost a whole lot of power though. Weird. He shoulda beat me, but maybe he was just playin with me, I dunno.
On equal ground the 01 should win, but who knows. Could have had a sliping clutch. Maybe he didn't think the 96 would be so strong and snoozed. There might be a hundred reasons.
I have taken cars I should have lost too.
Good Kill!
