I raced my friend's jetta wolfsburg tonight before my fuel pump died on me.
We found this 4 lane wide road that is about 1/2 mile long and no houses or anything on it except to the way end. We set up and prepped for the race.
I was in my auto slushbox 96 gt and he was using a manual. We didn't have anyone to flag us down or anything so I just said "First you go and when I see you take off I'll just catch up." He smirked and we rolled up the windows.
He revved to what sounded like 4k and dropped it in gear and took off. I started moving when he had about 5-8 ft on me. He was in what sounded like 3rd gear and I just shifted into second and was already 2 car lenghts ahead of him. From then on it was just straight demolition. I got up to 100mph and he was atleast 40ft behind if not more. I slowed down and he drove up next to me and he felt ashamed of himself.
About 5 miles down the road after some cruising my fuel pump went out and we pulled over. He waited behind me until the tow truck came along with my other friend in his rav4. All I got out of him was nonstop "shoulda got a toyota and you wouldnt be here." My friend with the jetta was talking how I won the race but my car broke down.
But, the joke was on him because after he left when the tow truck showed, I noticed a HUGE puddle of
tranny oil under where he was parked. From the amount of oil on the road, there is no way hes going to be able to drive it tomorrow. Sucks for him.
