If you own a Yellow 2005 GT with black racing stripes and you live in San Diego, you asked for it! I can't recall who, but someone here at AFM owns such a Mustang.
I'm driving up Highway 76 in Oceanside last night and a new 05 GT comes flying up behind me. Rides my tail wanting to race. I"m in my 05 GT. We take off from the light and I leave him by at least two car lengths. We have now done this twice. No offense, but you need to spend some more time learning to drive your car, or you are going to raped on a regular basis around here. Because my car is stock and I shouldn't pull on you like that.
If you own a Black 05 GT, again you asked for it. We are on OC blvd late one afternoon a week ago. I'm in my Cobra. We both take off and I pull two car lengths by the top of second gear and have three car lengths by the top of third. It was a solid run. We have done this a couple times and you can't win.
I am tired of running both of you, so stop asking everyone where I am at and stop chasing me down.
I don't like running other Mustangs and if I see you again, I won't run. Go find some 350Z's or SRT4's to play with, there seems to be plenty of them around here!! UGH!!

There was a yellow 05 mustang testing my patience a bit last week as well. Though he didn't have black stripes. He kept riding my ass, in traffic. I left him while getting on the 54 in the large curve. Once I slowed he was back on my ass. I don't like racing on public streets so I really didn't get on it. I was simply trying to get around the slow cars.

I assume you were in your Vette....... I would guess you get many Mustang trying you, as the Vette is the "bar" many Mustangs would like to reach.
I wonder if it was the same guy. Your situation sounds just like mine. I admit, I do race when a good oppotunity comes up, but I don't like drawing attention and do it several times.
Sorry about the rant everyone, I guess I was just flustrated. It's not like I'm the king of streets or anything. This guy just didn't get the hint and was riding up my A@@ the several time. If for some reason I needed to slam on the brakes, it would have been an accident for sure. I mean, I beat the guy twice, driving so close to my car ain't going to change that.
After reading the post, I realized that this person is not going to respond....BUT HEY, I feel better!!

There are times to race I suppose and definitely times not to. In traffic with many people around is one of those times. I've driven my Vette twice to work and around town a bit and get to many aholes acting like idiots. I think the attitude is I'm going to show this Vette how fast my car is. I could care less how fast a v-6 mustang is, a ricer, or whatever. Sounds like the guy who gave you trouble was an ass and deserved what he got.

I was in Oceanside last night when i iced the Ricer. Looks like there are a lot of san Diego County people here.. What are the chances of a cruise? (NOT a race, i KNOW my V6 can not stand up against your Cobra.. i know better) but would it not look cool, 20 or 30 Mustangs hogin up the PCH?

I'm in Oceanside too. Let me know the day anyone wants to cruise around and take up all 4 lanes on a freeway. I did that once with my old Honda Prelude out of pure coincidence with people on the freeway...and when we slowed everyone down enough we all gunned it and took off...pretty fun. I can only imagine how much more fun with some american Mustangs running wild

Rant on...I'm going to be honest, that is just stupid. Keep the game playing away from the public, preferably the track or at least back roads. If you are a Marine, remember you are military 24/7 and this little item demonstrates a complete lack of maturity....rant off.

so racing on any public highway or street is game playing...did not know that
(sarcasm)
guess I should of specified a little bit more...it was about 3 in the morning and I was on my way back from a club. But yeah yeah yeah, I know it's dumb and childish but so is anything we do for fun nowadays.
No disrespect or nothing, but is there really a need for an online Marine ass chewing...

Does the officer corps require you to police your troops online as well? Don't tell me that pilots are mature in a general sense. You should remember what consisted of fun for you and your compadre's in Naval Academy, and OCS, and Flight School.
Let him have the same fun you would have had in his shoes. Trust him to make the right call. If he gets in trouble, his Seargents and Corporals will hook him up. Enlisted take care of their own.:thumbsup
Semper Fi, to all of you!

please lets just stop the violence and discontent...I didn't mean anything bad when I said anything. Seriously what I did was not even that bad...not like we created an accordion effect with traffic. It was 3 in the morning with like 10 people on the freeway as far as I could see...all we did was slow down to the same cruising speed...like 70 I think. Once we all lined up together and realized 4 lanes were Prelude's side by side, we gunned it and took off, nothing far, nothing dangerous, I don't think I hit 100 before I backed off cause we were coming up on traffic.
I apologize for anything I started...

As an active duty officer, I will police online, offline, on the street, on base, or wherever if I feel it's warranted. I didn't pull rank and normally don't but let him know exactly what's expected from any military type, officer or enlisted. I no doubt had fun during my younger day's but when I did something stupid (and I did), I normally wouldn't post it in the limelight either.
Sometimes, keeping a sailor or soldier from doing something stupid is better than what comes after the fact, if you know what I mean. I've sat on to many Admin Sep boards for stupidity and if someone had just told them, hey not a good idea, he or she may still have benefits or a job. Not like his idea was outrageous but definitely in the immature area.

The problem with the internet is things are often misinterpretted. I wasn't trying to talk down or ass chew but simply let you know that what you want to do isn't exactly a mature thing that an adult and especially an active duty member should do. You are a Marine and I have tremendous respect for the Marines. So in your first statement, it just didn't sit right with me.

Ease up there Hard Charger/Shipmate! I was just pulling your chain a little. My time's over, but I still remember the drill. I would be the first to "correct" someone on the street that went out of line. On the internet though?
You do have a valid point in your duty as an officer, by the letter. But remember how many times you've done somthing that was punishable under the UCMJ that was really just along the lines of being silly. That's why commanders/NCO's usually are allowed a degree of leeway in their enforcement. My point is that, in my humble opinion, he wasn't out of line, much.
Marines aren't sailors, THEY'RE KILLERS!!!! HOORAH! They are indoctrined from "birth" with a kill or be killed attitude that sometimes overflows into random acts of sillyness. NO OFFENSE INTENDED, but not being a Marine, you really don't have the perspective here. When you're in a joint command, Marines always are the final evaluators for Marines (enlisted anyway.) I'm sure he has his discipline in order when he shows up for morning formation. I know I did, as I'm sure you did.
Hell, he's lucky to be here, and not forward deployed. They don't have the same kind of fun there! HUMVEES are no replacement for a 'Stang.
Honestly, when my Marines rcvd speeding tickets, as long as they were not extreme, there was no big deal. We had other shizzle to worry about!
Damn, all of this bs makes me want to put the uniform back on!!!
Don't fly too high!
