my lil brother has a friend who's got a 96 civic, with the si engine, intake, headers, exhaust, and some more bolt on's...he says he doesnt have anything else as far as like nos or turbo or what not, but hes talking mad smack about how he kills v-8's and well u know u know...im not the kind to brag, or even start a race, unless its just for fun, but he seriously called me out i guess and said he'll race me for pinks...i told him i wouldnt do it for pinks cause his car isnt even worth a third of what mine is, but he insists on it...now im not one to back away from a sure win, especially if a guy really just wants to give away his car, but i know theres always someone faster, and i have a few doubts as to whether i'll win or not..i mean what kind of guy puts up his car unless he really thinks he'll win...as far as i know he has no forced induction mods to his car, and its not stripped of everything like a race car, i have an 03 stock mach 1...i dont wanna race him for pinks even if im positive i'll win, but should i be worried or not...i know ive seen earlier civics with b16's in them that run low to mid 13's with no forced inductions

If all hes got is bolts on's id say your pretty safe. His biggest advantage is of course his power to weight ratio so should you decide to make the run make sure you empty your trunk of any extra weight such as the spare tire, jack and any other crap taking up space in the back. And if you can manage it make sure your fuel tank only has as much as you need, dont show up with a full tank.
And make damn sure the race is from a stand still where you have a big torque advantage. I wouldnt chance a rolling start.

as for the racing for pinks, didnt u see my post saying i didnt want to race for pinks, id rather race for a damn burger or gas money, if i was rich and could afford another gorgeous car, maybe then id even possibly consider it...
i just dont wanna be over confident and end up making myself and my mach look bad in front of a bunch of teen age kids, i raced a wrx from a dig and left him after i shifted to 3rd, i raced an integra (dont know exactly what kind, but pretty riced out) from a 3rd gear roll and anhilated him, im not worried about losing, if i lose i lose, but i wont do it for pinks, just for laughs and respect

Well honestly i would say u would kill him.But just because a car is slower doesnt mean it wont win.I raced a Turbo Talon one day in my 03 GT and I missed third the first race and for the life of me couldnt find it and he beat me.I was so damn pissed.So the second race I smoked him 4 car lenths.Now my car was alot faster but i screwed up and lost first race.That why i would never race for pinks slips myself because u never know what could happen.I know u werent going to race for slips i was just saying.But god SIs are jokes stock i mean bad jokes

Well to bad you are in California because I would race the kid for pinks. Since I have 3 cars I would race him in my 03 Cobra but only give him the pink slip for my 92 Eclipse beater car but most likely I would just be taking his car
Well I raced one of the new Focus looking Civic's and it had Vtec. I asked friends about it and most everyone said it was an SI. I was on the way home from the shop were I finally got my catless x-pipe and mach1 catback installed, and here comes this idiot on the interstate. I caught up to him off the exit, and we ran from a 35mph roll, and I didn't start to pull on him until mid 3rd (i have 2.73's still). We raced again from a 3rd gear pull (probably 70 mph) and I left him slowly but surely. The second time we went from 70-110 and at 110 his front bumper was at my rear tire.
I'll admit I'm not that quick, but if I can beat that thing, and it was an SI then you should sure as hell beat him. My guestimation is that with my updated mods (p/p heads, cut/welded intakes, x-pipe, mach1 catback w/turndowns, xcal tuned, big cam, and some other goodies) I'm hoping for ~195rwhp give or take a few...
I say do it, but not for slips...thats just crazy. He might have some very small bottles of n20 hidden, and hidden silenoids and all that good stuff.

let me give u all a lil history on this guy...hes the guy u love to hate...reasons why:
hes the kid that in the 5th grade, would talk about ur mom, sister, aunt grandma...any female u cared about, so you would whoop on him, then hed get up with a bloody nose and talk more smack then run home to his mom...
hes the kid that has every sticker that autozone, kragen, and pep boys make...
hes the kid whose spent more money buying every light, every whistle, every antenna, every gauge, he can fit inside his car, but nothing big under his hood...
hes the kid who shows up to every party, every gathering, every place u purposely dont invite him too, and talks smack the whole time...
hes the kid who hits on every girl, argues against everyone, for anything, thinks he knows everything in the world, never gives in, revs his engine at everything, loses big time and still talks smack...
i think ill race him and video tape it...
Tell him to take his smack to the track so you can embarass him in front of a large audience. And do it for like $100. Forget racing for pinks, too many variables to worry about with that much on the line, especially if you can't afford another ride.

I would tell the Honda guy to stop being stupid. He just knows that you have a lot to lose and chances are that if the stakes are that high you won't do it, thus he will always win by default.
In poker, we call this bluffing. The stakes are so high, you have to wonder if he actually might win.
If I were you, I would carry $500 cash, next time you see him. Put down on the table and say "we do it right now". Then he has no chance to go run home and get his cheater NOS bottle. Which by the way can be hidden very easy.
Don't risk it........I would never run for pinks. If cash won't do it, he is either really stupid or really smart. Don't fall for the bait on the chance he has another car that looks just like the one you think you are going to race, then lose too....
