Just last saturday I finally installed my rear brake kit (Baer 12in claws) so I decided to do some 0-60-0 stops at the industrial parkway to make sure things working. Feeling confident that brake pressure is stable and the pedal is just right, I decide to hit the freeway and blast off down to eight mile road to stretch her legs. Yeah, I might as well have been Jim Morrison stumbling down Sunset Blvd all hopped up on Jack Daniels cuz heads were turning like I was doing something terribly wrong. I climb back down from 130mph and cruise at 60 until I see a georgeous black 04 GTO pulling hard in the fastlane. A man in his forties, suit and tie paces me, gives me a thumbs up and motions for me to hit it, but I mouth the words "you first" cuz I'm certain i'm not gonna get all crazy ---yeah right ---. From a 60 roll, the guy breaks off, and I ease up to 70mph, and drop the hammer into 3rd, rear meats chirpin and clawing, and I'm out...just gone. With a Detroit Locker out back, I can just feel a slight "clunk" as the rearend stiffins up to transfer everything shes got to the pavement and shoots me past the 04 like hes standing still at 100. All thrust up to bout 120mph, I lift off the accelerator and roll back to 70 with an ear to ear grin and line up with the goat, and he holds up his radar detector and motions that there is a CHP up the road. We both take the next exit and pull into the truck stop at Flag City to let things cool off. Turns out hes running an all stock LS1 and a six-speed, with a best et of 13.65 at 104mph. And, hes an defense attorney who loves American musclecars just like the rest of us. Also turns out were are both running the same 245/45-17s and are just about evenly matched up. After some chattin bout old school cars and reminiscing, we line up for one last drag. Reving up to 2800 I drop the clutch, and nail my 1-2 shift with vicious shudder from the rear, but as stout as that locker is, my 2-3 shift pulls me a car length ahead of the GTO with the g-forces of a roller coaster, but suprisingly, he begins to even out just slightly until I hit 90 and my 3-4 shift, pulling me 2 car lengths ahead to 125mph and I shut down well past the quarter mile mark. "You got me that time, let me know if you ever need any representation!" Yeah, buddy, only after racing you down CHP infested backroads.

Ha Ha, Outstanding! Old School mustang with a 347 stroker. I Bet Goatboy never expected that. He probably thought you had a clapped out 289. I reckon that will send him to using a few clients retainers on modifications.:thumbsup
Thats awesome, usually guys with older cars have a hard time above 100 because of chassis vibration and steering. Thats awesome you can take on a modern car with modern suspensions. What suspension mods have you done?

For the suspension, I'm running a grab a trak road race setup with 620springs, 3/4in swaybar out back, tubular upper/lower control arms, graphite/poly bushings and four gas shocks. To transfer the power to the rear, I've got mid-subframe connectors and under rider traction bars. If I ever save up enough, I'd like to do the coil over setup up front. The monte carlo/export brace up front really makes a difference compared to how it used to ride when I first got it. As for the color, heck, thats been the hardest decision yet but I'm considering graphite metallic grey w/ just a hint of blue in it with silver racing stripes. Feel free to offer any suggestions...Thanks guys.

I hope you keep that car in the garage there in Stockton, it might get stolen! I use to live in the bay area and they always found cars in Stockton/Modesto area. Funny, cause Las Vegas ranks 2nd to Stockton on stolen cars. Awesome car dude!

Hah, I'm sure yer not an ass nor do u sound like one. More like my older brother whos always bitchin at me to put a carpet in it tho!!! But yeah, I am saving up for the paint...but it is funny cuz in fact, I do find something especially appealing about primered cars. I also like the fact that in spite of the dull, crappy primer, hot girls still love mobbin out with me to the lake regardless of the fact that I have no A/C or sound deadener, which makes for the noisy ride, but what does it matter anyway when I've got the music blasting. As for the car thieves, I rarely go out alone and as a former grenadier with the 11th MEU - USMC, I've got plenty of combat experience to share with them if they so desire....and a Sig Sauer .40 caliber in the lap.
Primer just means you've spent the money where it counts first. I could tell countless kill stories of primered nasty street beast that took out pretty painted cars.
