Default BMW M5s can be killed

Couple of weeks back i got out of the office late, about 11pm. Was doing around 70 on the highway when i see a pair of HID lights getting close, traffic was light but this guy in a BMW had to slow down before he reached me.

He accelerated once the traffic cleared and i decided just to follow him. I catched on him a few moment later because of the traffic, and i just signaled a thumbs up to him. Just until then i noticed the M5 badges, it is not a common sight. A 500hp V-10 5 liter under the hood and a price of over 80k.

He just stared at me and reved his engine, well, a challenge i couldnt refuse, it is hard to find a car that can keep up with mine.

We were doing around 50 and he floored it before i did, i downshifted and caught him in a few seconds. By the time i shifted to 6th he was several cars behind.

I quickly slowed down because i was approaching my ramp, the M5 guy approached, rolled his window down and asked "what the hell you have in that car?"

I promtly answered: around 70 thousand less than you have in yours

At this moment, at a lower speed and with more urban lighting i realized i knew the guy, we were friends in highschool but i just couldnt remember his name, but he did ..he said follow me and we stopped at a McDonalds parking lot.

Anyways..we talked for a few minutes, he happens to own a few Classic ponies so i invited him to our local club.

All i can say, it was a nice race, and i found an ole friend

With those mods it's no problem for you, but I would'nt be able to mess with a M5. Nice kill. :thumbsup

You would think a car with a V10 and 500 hp could run with a Z06, especially when it's like 10k more. I guess they're too heavy...what a waste of money.

Yea, but nto every car was built to be a pony car. The M5's Own Their class in overall performance.

Chances are on a race track you would have been beaten by a family sedan in the Twisties.

THough good kill and its nice to be a good winner and invite him to your club.

Steve Dinan races his 5 series car, i have seen him lap many sports cars including porches and vettes and vipers. Its a Late 90's M5 conveted to all race with rollcage and lexan windows, pretty crazy looking 4 door.

Completely agree, thats why next in my list is a panhard/torque arm setup. And most probably a tubular K member with coilovers.

Of course a well modified car can beat another car, even if more expensive. A modified shopping cart could hand a Porshe its ass. That's the fun part of modding but if a guy can afford a new M5, he doesn't need to worry about modding a mustang to race.

M5: The car that can take you and three companions from London to the Riviera in complete comfort...and then go and chase sports cars around on a track.

Nice car, just a little expensive and too technologically advanced for my tastes(BMW is real big on gadgety crap...).

Oh, and does beating the ultimate driving machine in a mustang feel as good as I imagine it does? I just wish I had something fast enough to shame the Porsche drivers round my way.

I raced an M5 at the track last year when I was stock, got beat of course. He was bone stock running mid 8's in the 1/8th. I think I got something for him now though, and even more in the weeks to come, hahahaha!!!

Quite true it's still a mustang and it's still a BMW sedan.
Grats on the fun.
