so i was out cruisin with a friend of mine and his gf the other night since its about the only thing to do in this town. were in my dads 1970 ford ranger xlt 1/2 ton cab special with a 360 with about 20 or so years of wear and tear and a 3 speed automatic tranny. well we got bored so we thought we would go to walmart because thats the best place to have fun. and were headed down 7th street and there was the black lancer, i dont think it was an evo because there is only one known evo in town, anyway this lancer traps me behind this semi thats movin kinda slow. so when i finally get into the other lane we are at a stop light and i just pull up right behind this guy. well the light turns green and he was behind a big dodge and i got over into the other clear lane and we are running the speed limit and the dodge slows down to turn and i go by and blip the throttle a couple times right in his passenger window, just messin around and just go on. well this kid whips in behind me and is right on my ass, well my friend looks back and is like man he is gonna race you. i kinda just settled into my seat just in case and as soon as we cleared the truck here he comes well i go to about 3/4 throttle and he starts creepin up, when i see that i floor it, well the poor old 3 speed auto in that truck doenst downshift and go like modern cars do and it kinda just trudged along, his back bumper is at my front when the truck finally downshifts and i start gainin a little but not much. i look down and am going 60 and decide that at 16 and having the truck less then a month a ticket for 60 in a 35 wouldnt be very good so i get off of it. he gets into my lane and we both turn into walmart and end up parking nose to nose. we get out and smile and nod. i walk up to him in walmart and say, "i dont know about you but i think that was pretty good for a 30 year old truck" hes like "ya that was pretty b. a." and we go our separate ways. all i know is if i see him again, im going all out the whole way and ill beat him next time. and that was my friday night.
