Was sitting at the light getting ready to enter the freeway ramp, and a Cadilac CTS pulls up next to me (dual lane on-ramp). I look over and this car is tricked out; big dual exhaust, performance rims/tires, and it had an emblem with a big V and a flag-I thought maybe it was some aftermarket thing. So his passenger, young dude is looking over at my stang and I could tell he was going to go for it. Well, light is taking forever and I start daydreaming about my Kenne Bell SC I'm saving up for. Next thing I know I hear the CTS catch a little tire and hear his exhaust come to life. I thinking should I ?-Hell yes, so I floor it. Now remind you I'm on the outside lane, and by the time I hit it the CTS already has 2 car lenghts on me. Well my little stang catches tire 1-2nd, and a little 2-3rd (auto), by the time we get to the freeway I've got 5 cars on him. He exited at the next exit. LOL- I waved bye, bye when we got to the freeway.
So, I get to work and I'm thinking the CTS probably has a little Northstar or some hoped-up sixbanger. I get on line and realize it 400 hp, they call it a V-series, $52,000. I couldn't find any specs, so I don't know what displacement or weight? All I do know is he didn't let off and I got the kill. Maybe he missed a gear? CTS- "Can't talk SH!T".......LOL.
I know it's not a performance car, so I shouldn't be bragging. But like I said before, "you pull up next to me and start screwing around and we're goin at it!"......(scooter all the way up to 18-wheelers).

did i miss something? a cadillac cts will smoke a mustang gt? why? what makes anyone think that would happen? good kill bro....no way is he equal to you...and where does this 400hp thing come from....i ...eeeep never mind...i was looking it up on my other computer while writing this...i thought you meant that 255hp high end cts...didnt see the v one....but even still 400hp isnt that much of a off the line difference...it weighs about 100 pounds more than the gt...add his friend to the mix and thats at least 170 pounds more...now we're talkin 270 pounds more...since hes young we'll assume hes dumb enough to race with the ac on and radio thumpin...power drain..........scared to push it all the way...sure...easy to see how this win went down...good kill
ps...by the way it went down..and how easy the win was...it prolly wasnt a real v anyway....i'm glad ya embarassed the kid...its prolly a v clone...same as half the m3s out there are really 318s or 325s with a m3 badge
Yeah it was cool enough I had my windows down-no ac, his were up so probably had ac on. Maybe he has more hp, but if that car's computer's not tweaked to put that power to the ground, who cares...mine is, most factory tunes don't get tire between gears on an auto. I'd race him again any day of the week, and twice on Sunday! Couple of months and it won't matter, I'll have another 150 hp to play with, and I'll only have $35k in my ride.
I really don't believe he was holding back....he started the race in the first place.

So assuming this guy was racing, which do you really believe you beat? If it was a CTS-V, he wasn't racing or simply couldn't drive. Your car, with your mods, isn't going to take the CTS-V, all else being equal. They can hit 109 in the 1/4 mile under optimal conditions of course. I actually raced one at the track 4 different times. His was a little older and had the LS6 in it. Very quick for a 3500lb car.

You'd be amazed at the amount of crappy drivers with hot cars. He coulda beat him. I mean he has an intake and tune, so he could be close to the CTSV, and if it was a crappy driver sure, he coulda beat him...although the "5 car-lengths" was probably cuz he gave up quickly.
That's the downside of these street racing storis...no video and no track time slips. So who knows what this other gyu in the caddy was doing....maybe his cell started ringing and he let off.

Those cars are 13 second cars for sure, i've seen it many times. But a stupid driver in any car will loose to a good driver in most cases. Good news is the new STS has 470 HP, a supercharged V8 is a first for GM in a caddy.

I've driven an LS2 CTS-V with a 6spd, and it doesnt feel as fast as my Stang...but maybe that has something to do with the caddys chasis. Its also very quiet and more luxury like (duh, its a caddy). I dont doubt it can be beat by a modded stang, most CTS-V owners are non racers anyways and they just like having the Caddy to show off in. There is a black one that freqents Midnigh Madness and he is in the low 13's, with 108 trap speeds. He has CAI and tune and adjustable shocks/suspension, so he softens the rear for traction....and he can drive...i was impressed. There is also a Mercedes S55 that does low 13's.. this guy even had his kids in the car with a child seat. now thats a fun dad!

A/C would turn off on my '69 Hurst Olds at WOT. Of matter of fact all my cars have done that. In the Carb days they used a micro switch on the throttle arm or under the dash on the gas pedal.
Sorry I just don't see a KILL in this thread. On the street pulling away from someone to me is not a KILL. Race the car on the track in a controlled environment that way you both know that this is a race for pride.
I give him the benefit of the doubt, but this "kill stories" forum is sometimes always biased anyways. I try to be realistic from what i've seen at the track, street racing is n't always the best way to judge how fast a car is because peoples lives are in danger. Since I've seen those cars run 13's and i've seen S197s run 13's .. it could be a close one.

Just amazes me how some guys only see black and white. Let's see your cars weigh the same, but his car has 80 more hp....so there is no way in hell you could ever beat that car. What ever happened to the underdog, well "the stats say this.....so no way could the underdog team win". So from now on just post cars stats; weight, hp, torque, and if the numbers don't add up.....you're full of sh1t! We don't want to hear about anything else.......BORING. And yes pulling away from someone else is a kill on the street! Don't compare street racing and then bring up the track. I don't care if dude misssed a ****, pussed out, didn't want to hurt daddy's car, ect. He started it......I finished it and shamed him! And if he has the better car....fine.....he paid $50k....and I kicked his butt. All the more of a kill for me because he should of won! Yeah BOMB!! Peace out!

I hope you dont street race too much, seen to many fatals here in the Valley streets. Seen a girl in her 98 GT ejected on 215/airport connector weaving in'n out of cars racing an eclipse. Be carefull out there
