230am : its terrible that my 20 min trips home from work are taking 3 hours on nice summer nights...but man what a night...i'm all giddy cause i got to open strtracr up on a 1967 camaro ss...wow....racing one of those is so cool...he pulled along side me...i was looking the other way enjoyin my tunes and then i heard that growl....unmistakable american vintage muscle....dont get those challenging you too often...very few and far between....wasnt as much of a challenge as i thought it would be....whupped him good but just getting to hear that thing roar was a treat....after that camaro i wasnt going home anytime soon so the hunt was on...next up was 2 lil teeny racers at a light revvin on each other...a ford probe and a riced up integra...i waited a car length behind for them to start and then gunned passed them....that never gets old...time to hit the highways....pontiac soltice giving me the lights...holy smokes...doesnt that thing have a lawn mower engine in it...i only took the time to beat him cause that car looks so damn hot...all these beatings i handed out gave me such an invincible feeling that i actually revved on an 06 vette at a light....gave him the old "lets rock" look....about 10 seconds after that look i decided it was time to go home...i suddenly remembered i dont drive the fastest thing out there(just the most fun)
On the way over to my Girlfriend's place, to surprise her and take her to the 1/4 mile track to watch some drags, [saw a primer grey Civic beat a gloss-red Viper] a nice older RX-7 gets on the highway just behind me. I see him easing up on my right Not much traffic ahead. He comes up next to me and eyes the "V8" on the passengers side.
Next mistake? He looks at me and smiles. I put it in third, at 70MPH and just ease the pedal down a bit. When his bumper stays at my door, I let it to the floor and shift at 100MPH. He is still trying but is rapidly falling back, in my rearview. I changed lanes and he never did the fly-by.
I wonder if he forgot he still had the pizza delivery thing sticking up off his roof?
I believe the soltice has a 2.4L, heard that from watching motorweek. The performance soltice isn't due out for another year or 2. Theres 2 black soltices around here that I've been waitin to line up against sometime, specially the one I see about every day coming home from work. I admit, they're nice looking cars, but performance wise, they're worthless at the drag strip.

She loved it but was *very* disappointed I didn't race. I said "No" at the gate to the pits b/c I thought she wouldn't like that. I was 180° off on that one.
Wish I had known. There were two other Mustangs and three Vipers. Eeeep. Turns out the two sleepers were the aformentioned Civic with both boost and nitrous turned all the way up *and* the little Chevy Blazer which also almost took the vipers. If I saw either one of those cars revving at me, on the street, I would have laughed, then been soundly humiliated, in short order.

I had a similar experience yesterday...let me preface this by saying this was my first time ever doing this, and probably shouldn't have...
Coming back from the store after returning pop bottles for refunds and going through my local downtown when up pulls a Maxima with the full complement of teens, bass pumping, stickers galore, etc. So I look over just to examine the first "ricer" that I've seen in our suburb (believe it or not, we don't have many).
He shuts off his radio and the light turns, and I move off nice and easy in my auto, and it granny-shifts into fourth gear by the time I'm at 25 mph. Suddenly, this angry buzz from my left reverberates, and I see the Maxima flying by with the kids waving at me, so I put the pedal down to stay ahead of them....the car does this huge lurch, but being in that gear, didn't want to accelerate fast enough. So they just zipped by, probably laughing their ass off....
Okay, so now I'm wondering if this car is for real. I leave off going home right away, cruise a few miles over to Woodward, and drive up and down a stretch. Come up behind an older Mustang and a WRX who go at it off the line....the older Mustang gets beat and pulls off...next light I pull up, this time from a dead stop, he spins his tires while my car does what I thought it was capable of....I get ahead of him and stayed there until about 60 (right as we pass a cop who was busy pulling someone over). I'm feeling better about this car's "competitive" acceleration. Was certainly an adrenalin rush, but will be a long time till I do that again, since I don't want to hurt anybody or get a ticket.

Yea this one time I pulled up to a light next to a 'ricer' civic hatch with all the ricer features, fart cannon, spoiler, etc etc and this blonde chick is driving it. She gives me a rev or two and a couldn't help but laugh out loud and I'm pretty sure she saw me laughing. So the light turns green and I beat her off the line, but to my surprise I didn't demolish her like I thought I would. I hop on the highway ramp just ahead and slow to down so I can drop into 2nd for when I get off the ramp. So I drop into 2nd and hammer it when the ramp straightens into the hwy. I go all the way to redline, slam it into third, redline in third, into 4th, and shes still right with me! At that point I shut down because it's an area of the highway where there could very well have been cops, and she flies by, ricer style. But I was pretty impressed that a piece of crap like that could keep up but at least I beat her from the light and she never did get the best of me so w/e...

yeah.. it's a terrible word when these hideous, rusty integras with fart cannons can go sleeper style and nice cars.
My second cousin is building a turbo'd 2.4l B20 (thats a contradiction if I ever saw one.) And it's going in an ugly ass burgundy 91 Integra with slightly rusted paint, and a huge fart cannon (I have tried repeatedly to convince him to just dump the exhaust.... how won't have any of it.)
But in the end that 350whp 3000 lb crap-box is going to be owning me... on highway races anyway. Sad sad world. But it'll be a drastic change of events when he find out his little econo-banger is breaking more parts every month than my 'Domestic Wreck' has broken in it's whole life.
So I suppose if you want to sacrifice durability, and good looks-hopping up an Integra is a pretty sure bet if you want to go fast, cheap.
Yeah, back to some of the earlier posts, when you get the chance to race something vintage, im sure its nice. The only thing is that usually, when someone is racing something like that on the road, its because its not that fast, although the owner might not always realize that, so they dont care. People should love me for that when I get my car, at least the new mustang and camaro and firebird, and I guess, challenger and charger, because they will get to race something vintage. Of course, the ricers wont appreciate that. Maybe theyll turn to muscle though, after watching my tail lights enough lol.
have any of you guys read the hotrod issue that has the solstice that GM and hotrod built with the new LS7 Z06 motor. man i would absolutely love to rock that car. runs 10s and pulls over 1G on the skidpad.

exactly....I love old mustangs and camaros, but I've smacked a few of them pretty bad and I hate doing it cause I love those cars. To be fair I had my ass handed to me by an old camaro that was so loud it could wake the dead.
As for being humbled....I hear that man.....I tested my luck against a c5 Z06 with at least aftermarket exhaust from what I could tell and he gave me the peace sign right before leaving my ass in 3rd gear....i got him in 1-2 gear though! ha ha ha ha ha
