this friday me and my friend are going to run i had my 05 stang for a year now. My friend came into some money and went out and of all things he buys a mach 1!nice car. will this be a drivers race? he has a exaust only but it is a 4 valve to my 3. i do have a few bolt ons. what should the outcome be

2005 gt mods include c&L intake,steed ud pullies, violator x pipe w/flowmaster mufflers,hurst shifter,custom tune by evolution motorsports.

With your mods you should be able to pull him since he's pretty much stock...I don't know by how much, but the 4.10's are going to help out a bunch....if you race from a roll it probably will be closer race.....If your friend is a good driver it probably will be closer than some of you think cause the 05's are heavier and I don't think they have the low-mid hp the mach's have....that's why the mach's do very well in the 1/4 stock.
A good mach driver can do the 1/4 mile anywhere from 13.1-13.3 bone stock so the cars are very capable. Don't let your friend add a mid pipe, CAI, tune, and 4:10's cause you'll be in some trouble if he does.

I ran a Mach with my vert in the 1/8 mile. His was stick, mine was auto. I beat him on reaction time and held about a 3/4 car length lead through the 1/8th but didn't pull on him. He told me he couldn't catch me either. All in all one of the most enjoyable and even races I've had.

I'll find you the issue of 5.0 Magazine or MM&FF I can't remember which one....anyway, they did it and backed it up with another run just like it. Plus, there are several guys on the Mach 1 registry that posted time slips of 13.1 bone stock, including stock tires. There are also a couple of video's out there of a guy that ran a 12.6 with ONLY DR's and mac prochamber.

From what I remember, all... not just a few mags ( I know Maazine racing, but still) but all had them on par with the 04 GTO at just a slight edge... Low 13's... I would have to see to believe.

You have a good start on the mods over the mach (especially the gears) it’s a drivers race.
A stock 05 doesn’t compare to a stock Mach, ruffly the same hp but the 05 is a heavyweight.
And the mach are faster then the older naturally aspired cobras.

I don't like magazine racing either, but stock low 13's are VERY common for mach owners....yeah, you can't be a crappy driver and get that low 13's with a bone stock car, but trust me stock for stock a Mach 1 is faster than 05+ GT's, but with this guys mods he will pull on the mach cause it doesn't take much for the race to even out.

If I remember right the are both rated at 305HP but again the 05+ are a lot heaver, and the mach are under rated, ford had to do a recall on (I believe) the 99 -01 cobras because they didn’t make the advertised HP, the mach has the same engine as the earlier cobras but they have the better flowing 03 cobra heads, if I remember many people are figuring the mach are around 315-20 hp stock.
