Ok so its Sunday morning and I'm going home after pulling the midnight shift. As is common place in Houston, I have to take a detour because the freeway going home is under construction. So I pull into a main street and I end up behind a Jag HK. So I try to get around him but the ***** keeps moving infront of me . He was driving pretty aggressive so I just setteled in behind him waitint until he went his way but just my luck he gets on to the same ramp as I do. I guess he wanted to look cool cause he went up the ramp and onto the freeway in a pretty fast manner. So I take my lane and even up with him, then he looks over at me and gives me a nod . So I drop into fourth and shoke the $hit out of him...predictably he never evens up with me again eventhough I slowed back down to about 65 MPH. The question is... is it considered a kill if I outpower the poor ******* that spent 75 grand on his car by a minimun of 100 hp?? I looked it up and he was only pushing 300 at the crank... I'm at about 420 at the wheels. Whats your say??

He provoked you, and you put him in his place. That's a good kill. It would probably cost him another five figures to keep up with you, in his Jag.

Number one, what does cost of a car have to do with speed? Meaning there are plenty of cars out there that cost more than a mustang with mods, with much better quality, but are slower. My old CO's brand new BMW 530 was a pretty penny but power wise, just wasn't there. A car like yours with 420rwhp and 4.10 gears is going to out accelerate many cars, regardless of price. It is nice to blow past a more expensive auto when the driver thinks he's all high a mighty. As much as I try not to street race there have been times when I put folks in there place for acting like an ass.......such as cutting me off for passing them. My old sleeper, 400rwhp 95 Mustang GTS was quite a sleeper.

A legit kill is when one car out accelerates the other, provided both are actually trying, from a stop or a roll. It's a "driver's race" when what SHOULD be a faster car loses i.e. missed shift, etc.
A kill IS NOT recklessly weaving in and out of traffic to keep up or overtake another vehicle. Or road rage. That is just dumb.
Have a great time and enjoy your car. How is the hwy mileage w/ the 4:10 gears? Sounds like a nice ride.
It's not about cost, either. It's participation. I would love to get "killed" by a Ferrari just to see it "go". I like getting beaten on the Harley too (easy to do) by the sportbikes because it's a good show of sight and sound.
A Jag story for you - a guy at Sears Point has an older Jag. XJR (supercharged 390hp stock) but had a ported supercharger and smaller crank pulley. He was running consistent high 12s on a hot day. He said his wifes FI E55 still pulls on him, though...

I agree with you on that one.. I like my car way too much to do something stupid like that.

I hear all kinds of crap about 4.10s and forced induction but I guess some people just havent had a chance to drive one. I keep hearing you run thru gears like mad but thats crap. only time that happens is when Im at the track. For daily driving if you rev 2nd up to 4K rpms you can shift straight into 4th or 5th and cruise while on the streets. I have only dropped about 20 miles per tank if I don't get on her too much and I usually drive at about 70mph.

I don't know about that much... I would at least like to some what keep up. I know Im not the fastets by far but it just feels good to knock the high and mighty off their thrones every once in a while.
And I call BS on those that said that price has nothing to do with it. The only reason we mod our cars is to keep up and have a chance to smoke a good ol six figure car. I mean think about it.. what would be better smoking some rice or a shiny Ferrari?? (is that how you spell shiny?)

It is nice to knock the high and mighty down from their thrones. Just remember, we are the high and mighty to many when it comes to street racing. For every Jag we kill, there is a clapped v-8 Vega in primer running a keg of nitrous just waiting on that cocky GT owner.
I Hate GM, deal with it.

I call BS on that. There are plenty of high priced car, low on the hp. My aunts Lexus SC430 for example. Nice quality, a pretty penny, but nothing to write home about in the acceleration department. Beating a more expensive car means nothing in the end. The guy with the expensive Ferrari still goes home with a Ferrari, probably to the better house and life.
