I own both cars. I'm as big a Mustang fan as anyone, but sorry Classic fans, the Saab easily walks away from the Mustang.
Now, don't start beatin me up, I was surprised too. I'm not claiming my SAAB to be competition against a late model V8 or a classic hot rodded Mustang.
The SAAB is an '04 9_5 with 250HP High Output Turbo, Electronic Stability Control, 5 spd auto with "sport" mode for more aggressive shifting. I've raced an 06 Maxima, Mazda Speed 6, Probe and Celica street tuners. The only car that's beaten it so far is a Mercedes CLX coupe.
Other than the new edelbrock 650 and dual exaust, the Mustang is pretty much a stock 289 4bbl (I assume about 230-250 HP?), with a rebuilt c4 auto
trans. It's more of a showin off car. It does great burnouts, does a nice 2nd gear bark, sounds like a monster with the old Cherry Bomb exausts. It's a sexy, nostalgic, pony car that gets alot more attention than the SAAB, but it's bite just isn't as bad as it's bark.
