I read this on another car site, just wanted to share it with all my Mustang Friends. I think it is a joke and a waist of Tax payer dollars. What do you think?

...These guys that do this organized illegal racing need to grow up and go to the track. I was driving home doing like 65mph and almost hit one of these racing retards while they were crossing a 2 lane backroad with no street lamps.. they had just gotten out of their car to mingle with the other idiots and almost met a very ironic fate.

thats funny....i raced my dad on that stretch last year....all that's gonna do is get alot more guys killed than the streetracin would have....cause lots of us know about the run when the police find the spot...but now nobody is gonna stop for the cops cause nobody is gonna wanna give up the car...so i foresee guys pushin it to the max a hell of a lot more than they would have.... and streetracin isnt gonna stop no matter what...got as much chance of stoppin that as they do smokin or drinkin....what a waste....and dont even get me started on the corruption potential.....if the cops can seize a car cause you watch a streetrace whats to prevent a corrupt cop from just taking cars at will that he likes and sayin"oh...he watched a race but the other ones got away"...dont scoff yet...it already happened in new orleans many years back...big fbi investigation......half the force was arrested... true fact

First, it is a joke........More people are killed by stupid non-racers falling asleep at the wheel that racers at 3 am.
Second, "stealing" the arrestees car from him is illegal no matter how you write a law! Thats grand theft at it's best. Follow the law and give the big ticket and fine, but to steal their ride is just wrong and illegal.
What if I was racing a motor home and I lived in it........are they really gonna justify takin/stealing my 200,000 home?
This just makes me want to street race more and get away with it.
My main beef is the justified grand theft auto by police and then they will sell it in an auction to someone else who will just supe it up and do the same...... it's pointless and deters no one!!!

I'm thinking I need to check my local laws and see how far away I need to park, if I am just there to "watch" [ahem]. There's a mile long straightaway, right next to work, in an industrial area. The only bad part is that it sits immediately adjacent to the freeway so every tom, dick and jacka$$ can see you and use his cell phone speed dial the po-po.
There's a town that needs a drag strip that lets kids race, on weekends, for free. Cheap race-gas and a tire discount for winners. Let the kids vote on how much to pony up for the prize money at the end and watch how many will show up. Suddenly it is not so cool to street race and the "big" kids will put pressure on the new guys to race at the strip.

good idea jet but it stiill wouldnt stop it...hell you'd have guys meeting on their way to the track and still goin at in on the road...most of the problem with a good streetrace is its never planned...it happens when 2 cool cars meet...seldomseen was racing on the street the day after his wedding on his way to the store...its all about spontan...uh...spur of the moment

I think this is focused more on organized street racing with large crowds and multiple races at speeds in excess of 150 mph. There is a big difference between that and your typical spontaneous challenge on the street. Either way they're both illegal and we all know the consequences if we're caught. Lord knows I would never do it .

Where do police get the power to take your car and SELL IT at an auction, just because you were racing in it? I'd sue the **** out of those bastards, and get way more than my car back.
I mean, yeah, street racing is bad, but that gives them absolutely NO right whatsoever to take possession of your car and sell it. Would the pay off your loan too if you were still making monthly payments on it?

I browse this thread to laugh more than anything. (Laugh at some of the BS I see) And never thought I would post to it until now. Get ready guys, some of you will get your panties in a wad. I live near Charlotte (in Hickory) and see this crap every weekend. From organized stuff like the article to everyone "cruising" the busiest road in town acting like fools. All of it is way out of hand. I love how people think it is "cool" to go out on crowded streets and race. Go ahead and flame me. What's worse, grandma driving 15 mph under the speed limit holding you up or getting out racing and not paying attention to someone wanting to make it home safe. Now, I'm not against getting on your car to see what it will do on an abandoned road somewhere. I'm not against running down the road with your buddy and opening 'em up when no one else is around. I know, it's still illegal. But you know what, I'm endangering only myself. Chime in kids! The problem with the stuff these days is no one thinks about other people. No one cares that they may be putting someone elses life in danger that didn't ask for it. All you think about is yourself and doing the flyby when you get beat so you can "write a kill story". That includes stangers too! I know this won't change one mind here. Whatever. It's my $0.02. If you want to race go to a track. If you don't have a track, you and your buddy go to a road with NO traffic so the only lives your endangering are your own. It's outta hand and the ones here that are going to get mad and start flaming are the ones that don't give two cents about the family of 4 they just cut off. They just want to be able to post a kill thought, er story. Eventually some of you will be the cause of a real Kill Story. Go ahead and fire back o guilty ones!
