There was nothing in this post that stated it was a crate engine. As far as making that kind of power with a Cleveland for $2800, it can be done if you (or your engine builder) knows what they are doing. Horsepower is a function of RPM, and if there is one thing a Cleveland can do it is rev.
You know we all have to start some where and we all have set our sites high at one time or another.
The fact that Nathan is here posting a lot of questions is proof that he is eager to learn! That in my book makes him "COOL" If you stop asking question you stop learning!!!
A person trying to learn needs our patience not bashing
I've seen high numbers from Cleveland engines before. Jarrett is correct. Cleveland's are rev happy They can make very high HP, but do not produce high torque numbers. The heads are HUGE!
Anyway Nathan keep-um coming. knowledge is power (or is it horsepower)
I'm a little late here, but, the very last streetrace I had was my "moneymaker",73 stang 351c,4spd,4.56,50series.
I called it my moneymaker cause it was faded factory jade green, black rims....it looked like sh#@!! And guys would hear it rumpity rumping and think it was junk. Anyway for $20(lot of money then) a guy wanted to race his 68 389pontiac,(laurention or b-ville).We went one way and I beat him by a car length(not too much to discourage him),He wanted a rematch(double or nothing hehe),I turned around, lined up,and he's under his frontend? I jumped out,any problems? No he said just RETYING THE ROPE ON HIS TYROD END!!! I was just door to door with this idiot at 120+mph !!!!That did it for me,now I know the guy in the other lane was teched in and has a safe car. Yes I street raced when I was younger,I know of nine people who died from my town and that didn't stop me. Maybe I grew up? nah,I just got older. obviously luckier too!
Yes Street racing is fun but the fun isn't worth jail time and yes i have street raced before. However It isn't nearly as fun as the strip even if you lose it's still fun. I even get goose bumps when i am staging and when i am when it's over i shake alittle. Adrenaline Rocks!
Race and win, race and lose, Race for fun

There is nothing like the rush of launching hard of the line with a pair of slicks. The rear squats, the front lefts and it pins you back into the seat. I launch my twin turbo LX at 6000 rpm. That was enough to bend my seat. And when your running down the track at speed, the side to side movement on slicks is enough to scare the hell out of most.
You will never get the feel of a hard launch on the street and that is a fact! If you get the slightest feel on the street, it will be 10 times more at the track.
I've gotten more of a rush at the track then I ever got from the street. Plus I get a time slip for the bragging rights

OK, I do this alot, but nobody should street race.
I will tell the story of one of my best friends.
We grew up together all into bicycle and racing those. When we turned 16 we started fixing up our cars. I started to street race heavily, like almost every night. He thought it was wrong, but i talked him into doing it. we went on for almost 2 years doing this until about 3 years ago, he was racing some guy in a mustang. Chris beat this guy and the guy was pissed that an integra beat him so he tried to catch up with him. The mustang driver lost controll and plowed into chriss door sending his now traveling 100mph integra into the back of a navigator that was in a turn lane. The navigator then flipped onto an explorer forcing both into oncoming traffic totalling a cadillac, a caprice, and an rav-4. After 11 hours the cops finally extracted enough of chrisses body out of his car to identify him. As for all of the other victims they all lived, the worst injured other than the mustang driver who is now a vegatable, was a very young babie who had a broken jaw, and leg. The babie was rushed ino surgerie, and lived, but will be scarred. ALL OF THIS WAS FOR WHAT??????
dont street race, if you do i dont give a damn if you die, just dont kill my family that is out obeying the laws on the street. I prommise if anyone does they will have to face me, and that is much worse than the police.
There is no respect to be had in street racing!!!!!!
Keep it real, and on the track.
I have lost almost 8 friends but chris was my best. I will never see, hear, or talk to them ever again, b/c they wanted to prove something to somebody they would never see again, and never have a chance to see again.
