+1000 on the Weatherstripping Kit, that is ESSENTIAL on a Fox Body rebuild! I hate opening the door of a freshly built notchback and seeing ripped and beaten up weatherstripping!
O.K., I have to admit that I had a few laughs as I read though the top 10 list and yes, even I open my doors the way you mentioned in the list. But there is one part, for us fox body hatchback owners out there that is getting hard to find and a bit overpriced (in my opinion) if you look around online. It is the infamous hatch striker bolt that keeps the hatch down tight. I know that my hatch probably has about 1/4 inch of play in it when closed that lets in dust, air and (probably) exhaust fumes while driving around town as you hit various bumps in the road. You guys need to find a steady supplier of this part that wont sack us $40 + for an over-glorified bolt and cylinder shaped washer.
How about a good reproduction luggage rack and especially the 3rd brake light cover. I like the look of the luggage rack but it's faded with chipped paint. But all in all you came up with a great starter list. +1 on the really good cleaning too.
travisp11, Comparatively speaking the 87-91 hatch striker is priced higher than the 81-86 & 91-93 parts. For the life of me I cannot see why, but these are all still Ford original parts. I submitted this to one of our suppliers, but he probably won't be able to start reproducing them until Ford releases the tooling.
jerry9665, there really is a first time for everything. I've been here for 6 years & that is the first time I've ever been asked about getting a replacement luggage rack! I will submit this as well to see if the Ford tooling still exists for the luggage rack, but I wouldn't hold my breath. Unfortunately, because of the low demand, it may be a while before we see a reproduction. In the mean time, have your tried removing your luggage rack & sanding it down & repainting it?

I know I'm one of those few people who like the luggage rack. I even have one on my 65. I'll probably just
end up painting it but do you know if they make a replacement for the plastic 3rd brake light housing? Mine is weather beaten and could use a new one.

I know where you are coming from. I actually like the Ruby Red interior in my 93. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the very few who openly admit that there is nothing wrong with a red interior! (as long as it's clean)
There are no current reproductions on the Convertible 3rd brake lights & the OE ones have been discontinued by Ford. Unfortunately the only current source would be used.

Jerry another option is having the luggage rack powdercoated there are powders that will give the appearance of chrome or polished aluminum....

You know, it's been so long since I've owned a hatch car that I forgot about a fairly simple fix. It's more like a band-aid, but it will last a while.
The Door Striker Bushing can be made to work on the 81-91 Mustang Hatch Strikers. The Door striker bushing is a little shorter & has a slightly larger inner diameter than the hatch striker bushing, but nothing too major. All you need to do is unscrew the washer off of the hatch striker, (check the fitment of the bushing now) run a wrap or two of electrical tape around the shaft (yeah, I said shaft) of the striker where the bushing would sit to take up the slack, slide on the door striker bushing, & screw the washer back on.
The reason I say that this is a band aid is because the electrical tape underneath does give & the bushing will fail again. However it is a longer term temporary cheap fix & definately beats a rattling hatch & the smell of exhaust fumes!
