Cars with stereo's that cost more than the car, 4bangers that sound like race prepared snowmobiles.

My Dream Mustang
'69 Boss 429 C/J with up to date suspension, seating, electronics & brakes
About Me
OK, I am a little long in the tooth, I am a boomer. I was 17 when the first Mustang hit the streets and I will be elligible for early social security in a couple of weeks. I did my time in the U.S. Army from '67 to '69. My very first personal vehicle was a '68 beetle (in '69) with every chunk of speed equipment available including Porche heads, tranny, and dual 48mm Webers. No peace signs were ever anywhere near that beast. There have been 4 mustangs in my family, two of them mine and both Hi-perf.
I am (2nd) married, and have two offspring, a son 35, and a daughter 19. She learned to drive in my current ride, a 2007 redfire GT. Back in the '70s I used to do a little amature SCCA autocrossing in a 72 FIAT Spyder, and I helped tune my cousin's brand new '67 Comet Cyclone 390 auto. He ran in the 13's a couple of times at the old 75/80 dragstrip in Thurmont Maryland. That Comet scared everybody. Oh yeah, I think street racers need to do some time. We lost a half dozen kids in my area over the last year in street racing accidents. A spectator couple soon to be married died in one just a month or so ago.
Mustang Rides
First Family Mustang was my mother's. 1979 Gia, 5.0 auto - unmodified, Gold w/vinyl landau top, sun roof, Parchment vinyl interior, lit vanity mirror, fake wood dash & door trim, simulated wire wheel covers, thinline white walls. (gag me with a spoon)
Sold after 5 years w/ 2800 original miles (OMG).
Second. Sorta 'Stang. 1974 Mustang II Gia 4banger auto, pea soup green w/ olive green landau top. Still gagging. Don't blame me, my (new in 1980) wife's ex bought it for her while they were still married.
Third Mustang. MINE - all MINE. 1988 LX "sedan" Charcoal inside and out, 5.0, 5 spd., Factory EFI, deleted cats, Flowmaster D-30 muffs, larger (I think 55 mm, heck, it's been 21 years) throttle body & a chip, American Racing cast alum. 9.5x16 rear, 8x16 fronts w/ "Gatorbacks" all around, Thunderbird 5 bolt disk brake conversion. Dunno how fast it was, the speedo only went to 80, but my buddy in the back seat(?) got a mild concussion from the backlite hitting him in the head leaving a stop light one day.
Fourth and current Mustang. Bone Stock 2007 GT Premium, Auto, 4.6. Redfire outside, Parchment leather power seats inside, Shaker 1000, no scoops, louvres, blackouts on it anywhere. Bought it used for $23,500 at Carmax Aug. 2008 with 7300 orig. miles. CarFax says It was a "Dealer Executive Vehicle" in Northern Virginia until I found it for sale. Held out for 8 months looking for that particular color combo. I have no plans for any mods right away. We'll see.

If it looks right, it is right, and I decide if it looks right. Paraphrasing Sir Sydney Camm (of Hawker aircraft IIRC)
