    About Me
Retired writer and editor. Have owned a ton of high performance and now-classic cars over the years since the 50's. Raced in club hillclimbs and 1/4 mile events. Not a risky street racer...lost a great friend doing that 40 years ago. Live in Middletown, NY. My 2001 GT is Mineral Gray over black leather with 60K miles. It's in pristine condition. I'm a fisherman, canoeist and kayaker, photographer, and a rockin' Mustang fan. I got the Mustang bug back in the 60's when the TransAm races were held at Watkins Glen--that was the place to go to see hot Mustangs and Camaros. Glad to be aboard. I hope to make some good friends here. Dave NICEHOSS

    Mustang Rides
Super-clean 2001 Mustang GT in Mineral Gray over black leather. Mild bolt-ons only, with a few more to follow soon. The new 18"x9"and 18"x10" chrome Saleen-style five spoke wheels I just bought look terrific on any Mustang. In the front, they're wrapped in Bridgestone Potenzas (SO-3 Pole Position) 245/40x18 and in the rear 265/40x18 BGF T/A KD's--for traction and handling. There's also a polished billet B&M Hammershifter, a BBK chrome fenderwell CAI, full Magnaflow catback with BBK X-Pipe and high-flow cats, H&R sport springs, AGX adjustable struts and shocks, Steeda underdrive pulleys, Accufab 70mm throttle body and plenum, Silverstars, high-output American Muscle Fog lamps (for old eyes), an Optima Red Top battery, red OBX silicone hoses, Luminics bullbs all around, and rear louvers. Ford Racing gears and ceramic shorties are next. I actually think I'm close to done, so please humor me. Maybe I'll add some Roush front and back panels for good measure!!!!! That neat Meziere elecric water pump will add 8HP! And a 13" Big Brake Kit from Baer courtesy of Amp Performance would be terrific! Ohhhhhh...my fever just kicked in again!!

Tire Input Needed In Time For Christmas!

Hi Everybody. Well....my four brand-spankin' new chrome Saleen-style wheels are just sitting in the living room waiting for me to make a good tire choice.

These are going on my 2001 GT in Mineral Gray. The front Saleens are 18x9"; the rears are 18x10". Up til now, I have been running 18" polished Saleens that came with the car. I had them refinished but the results did not make me happy. So I started saving the the whole package...new wheels and tires. The wheels are ready. Now I need the tires.

I'm pretty well set on sizes: the fronts will be either 265/35x18" or 275's. The rears will be 285 or 295, depending upon the fronts. I will not be drag-racing, so maximum traction is not my goal (can't afford to fix busted transmissions or blown engines). This car gets under 5K miles each year. It goes to lots of local shows. So I'm going for LOOKS mostly, with handling and response a strong second. I want people who stop to look at my car to think "wow, nice wheels and look at those tires will ya!" IN other words, the hot look...enough to help me snag a teeny weeny trophy which I've been trying for since I've had my GT.

BFG is always a good choice. So are Nittos 555's. How about the Falken 452's? And then there are those neat looking Vdrestein Sessentas. All look nice. All are quality tires. I would really appreciate input from members who have had actual experience with those models, or suggestions that you think are worth considering. I'm not interested in Michelins at all. OR Generals. Kumho makes some good tires. And no Coopers, thanks.

Thanks so much for everybody's help. This is the first time I've seriosly gone to you guys for assistance, and I need some help in spending almost $800 without regretting my choice later!

      Best,
      Dave NICEHOSS

Hey Dave! No 92 Mustang here, just the engine in my Jeep. Owned a mustang a while back, but right now my garage sits empty (
except for all my junk). Your Stang is a beauty! Looking real good!

      Hi Dave!

I am sorry it has been so long, you are officially a "friend".... I never write back! LOL

Things are going well here! The ride is great (although waiting for my stripe guy to get back to me, we're having an issue that wasn't cleared up when they were put on)... Today, I am meeting my brother for lunch - we'll bring the Stangs... come to think of it, we should offer the lunch meet up to a few more!

I just love your car... and your plate! It makes me giggle when I read it... VERY creative.

Our GSMC club was invited to the OCMC meet... unfortunately, we weren't able to make it! I saw your pictures and that is one HOT mineral gray 'Stang... I love that color! She looks awesome naturally - but exceptionally great at the show!

Very sorry to hear you didn't take home any metal, the girlie surely deserves some!! Nice to have another friend who is nutty about their Mustang.... truly nutty. You know exactly what I am talking about....

The weekend is here... AMEN! (what a week) We're expecting some very hot weather. I was going to spend the weekend on the 'Stang... but instead, will get up real early to wash her good... and lay a few coats of polish and wax on her so she can last until the weather breaks...

Other than that, not too much going on!

Write soon!!! I'll try to write back faster

      Judi
