Hey so I was kinda curious about something, and thought you an ideal person to ask seeing as you are in law enforcement.
In my town, many of our streets are at a very considerable incline.
Last fall, I was pulled over for "revving up my engine" while going up a hill. I was starting from a dead stop (so I was in first gear) and would say I was at around 4000rpm, so its not like I was at red line or anything, but I have to be going 24mph WHEN I engage second gear to be over 2000rpm and not cause undue stress to the drivetrain (meaning I need to go above 24mph to stay at or above that when going into second).
More than anything it was to make sure I was not drinking and driving (it was a congested area, and I was doing a lot of steering adjustments because I was nervous about hitting parked car or oncoming traffic), which I can not complain about (I am not fond of those that drink and drive).
If a cop WERE wanting to give me a ticket for that, would it be a good idea to (kindly, calmly, and respectfully) explain to him the situation and that I just go to 30mph in first in that situation before shifting to second or would I just be getting myself in more trouble?
Also, do you guys notice window stickers given out to those that donate to police/fire services, or does it just look like I am trying to get out of a ticket given my age and car?
