I found the 68 online on
www.vintage-mustang.com. The seller is in New York. Pretty much the market sucks right now for selling cars, so his was on sale for a little over a month. I was able to talk him down. He's a nice guy and very knowledgeable on the GT/CS's (he has two). It will be on an enclosed truck and delivered to my doorstep.
The k-member brace pretty much stiffens the chassis of the car by linking each side of the k-member together via a stiff bar. The front end tracks much tighter through turns with it. It also has slots to allow for torque limiters to be installed. The torque limiters attach to the bar on each side and then attach to each side of the transmission via bellhousing bolts. They keep the transmission from turning over when the engine is torquing over at WOT. You ever miss 3rd gear at WOT? Well, the limiters keep that from happening. They stiffen up the drivetrain and make shifts much more predictable. It is a cheap mod for both the member and limiters and well worth it. It's even easy to install... unless you have my car... for some reason, I really had to muscle the bar to get the bolts to go in properly. I think my passenger side k-flange was bent a little.
