Default Ford parts dealers

Hi Mike ...

Mexican Ford dealers is where you get the parts from, down here. They get the parts from the States.

There is 2 or 3 Ford assembly plants in Mexico for engines and complete cars. There is also some other Ford suppliers or Ford owned manufacturers such as Carlite (glass), Visteon (upholstery, electrical subassemblies, etc), Tremec (manual transmissions). All of this for new cars.

If you want old car parts, there is none .... we get them from you guys up there.

I do not know what are you looking for or what is in your mind...... need more input froom you.

I'm sorry, please be more specific.

Saludos,
Potro65

Any experiance with Mustang & Mercedes Imports in Mexico City?

I am looking at taking a classic Mustang on an adventure from L.A. to South America (nothing really planned yet) but looking for parts suppliers along the way so I know where to look if something needs repair.

Default Trip down south .....

Hi Mike.....

Now you are talking.

You should have no problem at all with maintenance and "general stuff": tires, batteries, filters, oil, and even starters, alternators, pumps, spark plugs, radiator, belts, even engines. It will help a lot if you get your car in top notch mechanical shape up there before you hit the road, just for general precautionary measures verify everything and get some basic hand carried spares along with you.

You can find parts and services at least in Mexico .... Guatemala and down south should be just about the same. I do not know how further south you want to go.

Saludos,
Potro65

I have done shorter trips in Nicaragua and El Salvador just touring in whatever car we buy (for like $500) and at the end of the trip we give it to a local church or school something like that. My friends just got back from India where they bought motorcycles and did the same thing giving them to a local church. Its a lot cheaper, plus a lot lower profile than rolling in a rental car on the back roads of central america. My friend is coming back from Japan and we have always wanted to drive to South America.
