I got the outside washed and waxed. The interior just needs a vacuuming and I can do that anytime in the garage. I was hoping to get to the engine bay - maybe on Thursday if the weather holds.
About twice a year I jack the car up, take each wheel off, and detail the underside and suspension. I'm going to need a good day to do that.
Yes, I'm off the meds again.

OK, so I've added a few things to it. Check my Profile - too many to list here.

Looks good Jonathan! Especially with those GTA's on the back!

Sweet!

What kind of products do you (and everyone else for that matter) use to clean your engine bay? I have a bunch of various products, mainly Meguiar's and Turtle Wax ICE products, to completely do the inside and outside of my car, but I have never been sure of what to use on the engine bay. Some input here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Don. I absolutely love the GTAs. Not only do they sound awesome, but they look awesome as well. They fill the cut-outs very nicely. What do you use to clean yours? Just soap/water? or do you use some sort of stainless steel metal cleaner/polish?

For my engine bay, I wipe it down with detailer except for the hoses, I use tire dressing for them. Then for quick touch ups, I learned from myltlpny to use a Swiffer!

So far for the GTA's, I've just used soap and water.

Okay, cool. I have plenty of Meguiar's detailer (use that on my stripes, amongst other things), and I even have some of the ICE detailer too, but I haven't used any of that yet. So you use the detailer on the manifold? And that works good?

Good idea about the tire dressing; I bet it makes those hoses shine!

My manifolds are still stock so I just dust them off.

There's a whole thread dedicated to cleaning your engine bay in the Show and Shine forum. Lots of good stuff there.
My secret - a swiffer duster.

Sounds like Simple Green is a popular product. Do you know where one can purchase that? I could be mistaken, but I don't think anyone mentioned in the thread.

And I don't know, I'd be kind of afraid to hose down my engine. I'd feel much better doing everything by hand, even if it takes a while longer.

Maybe a combination of Simple Green, and wiping afterwards, instead of rinsing, and some detailer would be a good place to start.

And what is the secret behind this swiffer? What does it do exactly? Believe it or not, I've never used one.

David was a genius to think of the Swiffer. It gets in all the nooks and crannies and is great for touch ups at shows. The swiffer is able to trap the dirt in the fibers and so you aren't just spreading the dust around, you take it off completely.

Not sure if many of you have seen one but, Wynne Ford has a triple black GT500KR on the show room floor. Sorry, I didn't have a camera with me.

Several people have used Simple Green. It's a good grease cutter. Lowes carries it.
I have heard some real horror stories using a hose to clean an engine bay, particularly on the F-150 forums. Water has a knack for getting into the coil packs and poof - they're gone. A spray bottle and a cloth are your best friends.
And a Swiffer duster.
You've probably seen the cheesy comercials on TV. It's a duster that bends around corners and it thin enough to get in tight spots. It does a good job of trapping the dust and not just spreading it around. I usually get two or three uses before I have to replace the duster part. They're cheap and work well on the engine, interior, and around the trunk.

Sounds like I need to invest into a Swiffer.

I'll stop by Lowes and check out this Simple Green product as well.

I've noticed at car shows that everyone has their hoods popped and if I end up entering some shows, I can't have it looking a mess under there. And its good to have it clean anyways.

Thanks for the info guys, I do appreciate it!

I'll be shooting you another PM soon Don, sorry for not replying sooner, I'm not trying to be rude, just been a little busy, got family in town.

I hope everyone is doing well.

I was able to take advantage of this beautiful weather and wash/polish/wax my vehicle yesterday. First time I polished before waxing and the paint is incredible. It has a wicked shine and is as smooth as it has ever been - like glass. Wasn't able to take any pictures though.

I did pick up a bottle of the Simple Green product, at Target, but haven't been able to use it yet. I may try to get to it today though.

I recently installed a set of WebElectric Sequential taillights, which are awesome. Not a mod I can really enjoy personally, but I see people checking them out in my rear view.

I also ordered the C&L Racer CAI / SCT X3 combo from Brenspeed last week. It hasn't shipped yet, but I'm hoping it ships today or tomorrow to where I will receive it by Friday and will be able to install it this weekend. Needless to say, I can't wait.

Just about two weeks until the first show of the season. Anybody else as excited as I am? I never thought I would enjoy the shows as much as I do. Sure, the trophies are nice, but it's the camaraderie and the people that make it worth while.
