This question is for the locals around nyc... I am looking to have a 8.8 rear rebuilt and have the gearset changed out but I dont have anyone I can trust thats able to do the job right the first time, anyone know of a shop thats capable and knowledgeable?

Manchester transmission has done good work, but they are in Manchester Ct... that may be an even worse ride. Just trying to help... Manchester is east of Hartford on I-84.
This may be a ride for you, 1 hr or so. Does excellent work.

Thanks for the info...an hour is a small sacrifice to make if the job gets done right the first time..have any idea what an average price of replacing the bearings and changing the gears would cost?

Mustang magic does good work, They installed my gears. They are located in Deer Park, Long Island. It runs about $450 for the gears and install If you already have a tuner. If you dont have a tuner you will need to buy one so they can recalibrate your speedo which will be another 400. To have the rear rebuilt I am sure they can do it but dont know how much.

Check out this shop over on Northern Blvd. and 110/111th street in Queens. Its right off Northern Blvd and the guys name is Jack. He does all kinds of performance work.
I also have a buddy that does it work on the side. Excellent engine builder, rebuilds T-5 and rears. Did my 88 Gt yrs back. Let me know and maybe I can set something up.
