Default question for Pa. stangers

Has anyone in Pa. completed the form (MV-426B) to be exempt from smog inspection and testing? I have the form but haven't completed it yet because there is a long list of requirements the car must meet..
I was just wondering if anyone has filled it out yet and got an "exempt" sticker for their car yet?

Must depend on where you are in PA. Here its just a "visual inspection" and they pressure test your gas cap. That's it.

OK, an MV426b is a Specialty Vehicle Form. I had this done back in 1997. You must apply for a "Collectible Vehicle Plate" The car must be highly modified such as pro street, or street machine. The car must be in show quality condition. You must take pictures of outside, inside, engine, and undercarraige. You must list all the modification that were done to the car. You must attach copies of reciept of all the parts you used to do this. If the parts came from a junk yard or other vehicle you must list the VIN number of the car they came from. You have to take the car to a State Inspection Station and have them fill out the forms that they checked all the stuff listed on the form and that the work was done correctly and the car is safe. They have to sign, date and list there State Inspection License Number on the back of all the pictures. You then send all this to the State for approval. It took about 5 weeks. You then get a "Collectible Vehicle" license plate which is never has to be renewed just like a Antique, Street Rod or Classic tag. The car can't be driven over 2500 miles per year. For use of going to car shows, cruises, and ocassional pleasure driving definded as one day a week. You can't use the car for transportation to work or other normal functions. You have to still get a yearly state saftey inspection but you are exempt from emmisions inspection. I got mine when they fist came out. Mine was the 130th issued. I understand they are much harder to get now since so many people are trying it. If it's an everyday car and not in ultimate show quality you won't get it. Good Luck, Ray
