Question Mid-life crisis- longing for a stang

Back in the day, i owned a 72 Mustang-- the ugliest color ever made, but it was mine. Unfortunately i had to sell it when its repairs were more than the book value.

Now i find myself reminiscing about it and i am thinking about buying another. No, not a 72-- i was thinking 2002-2003. I know stangers are an opinionated bunch-- which is why i am here-- so tell me what you think. Any recommendations? Suggestions?

I'm not interested in racing-- did enough of that back in the day. Besides, its not exactly a good example for my kids, who already think i'm nuts for wanting a new stang. (Thankfully, they have decided they wont ever drive it-- whats wrong with kids today??) FWIW, my husband is very supportive-- he thinks hes gonna be allowed to drive it. Silly man.

While you're deciding what advice to give, i do have one concern which hopefully you can alleviate. How is it in the snow? My 72 had studded snow tires so it was fine, but they seem to be illegal now. ;-)

I have an 04 v6 with traction control and I haven't had any problems in the snow. But I think it would be a job controlling without the trac control. And I love my v6. Fairly quick and cheap on insurance.

Don't you hate it when that happens

I think if your going to this you should take your time and find a nice 2003 SVT Cobra, 2003 Mach 1 or a very nice low mileage GT.

Trust me If you buy one of the above mentioned Mustang's your kids WILL change their mind and your hubby WILL want to drive it too

With the right All Season Radials the Mach 1 and the GT will probably do just fine depending your driving skills. The SVT Cobra on the other hand will probably have way too much power for the snow. I know you can drive one in the snow but it is very unforgiving so you CANNOT make a mistake.

Thanks. I used to be very good in the snow. Then again, if my skill is gone, I dont want to find out in the middle of a spinout, so i think i'll skip the Cobra.
I'll keep an eye out for a low mileage mach 1 or GT. I"m not in a hurry to buy-- but i can buy immediately if the right car came along. I think i'll be patient and see whats out there.
