ok so i am planning on getting the hi po x charger kit and was reading up on emissions laws. i read that 2005 and newer models dont require emissions testing, anyone in az have to have a emissions test with their mustang yet? and is it possible to pass emissions with the hi po x charger kit on our mustangs? im looking for answers from arizona people cause when i call the dmv they always tell me any type of modification to the car will make it fail emissions. i asked if i out side louvers on would it fail and the woman said yes. SOOOO since i cant get a straight answer from them anyone know anything about the emissions testing???

The X Charger shouldn't do anything to make your car put out more emissions. I'd be more concerned about cats... Which you have. You should be fine!

From what I understand about newer cars in Phx is that they don't get emissioned until 5 years after the purchase, then normal emissions checks are a must.

If you keep the cats and aren't throwing any check engine lights then you should pass the computer test. But who knows what those morons will find to fail you on when they do the under hood inspection. I hate emissions employees.

kinda late to chime in but...if the part has a CARB OE number then they should let it pass.

bulldog, every emission employee i've met has been alright (guess you should come out to the westside ). plus after i pass they ask me to lightem up as i leave.

also, AZ has a law that if your car is 15 years or older and has collector insurance on it then your car is emission exempt. my 94 stang had it's very last emissions test last year.

I know in California the 2005 mustangs don't need to be smoged until 5 or 6 years later I am not sure about Arizona.

It also depends on where you live. If you can figure out a way to get your car registered in Cochise County then emmissions are a thing of the past for you my friend!
