Timmy, det289,
I'm new to the forums but have been in Albq 11 years, is there any Mustang clubs in Albq?
Thanks,

Hey guys. I'm new to this forum. I live in Wisconsin but my wife & I have been talking about relocating and New Mexico seems to be a place we both liked when we visited. Anyway, i was wondering what everyone does for a living there. What the cost of living is and if anyone ownes there own property? What the Mustang scene is out there. Just fishin' for some info from the locals!

matters on where in New Mexico you move exactly Santa Fe and Albuquerque are usually the cities of choice. as far as location for the city, i can't tell exactly for Santa Fe, but in Albuquerque, the Northeast area is considered the more "well-to-do" area, although that is not completely true. just north west of Albuquerque is Rio Rancho, and that and Corrales are great places to live. Rio Rancho people are known for having Intel right there.

However right now may not be the best time to move here (economy = nearly no jobs) unless you already have a job coming out here!

our drivers are NOT known for their coutesy (there have been shooting reported from "mad-dogging" (gang members suck out here, which is something you may not find if you ask most people)) our crime per capita is among the top in the nation (last i checked) and our bad driving habbits usually land us in the top 2. I can provide a lot more negative facts about our city, and government for that matter, so just PM me if you would like those lol.

overall, our city isn't horrible. you realize what is and is not acceptable pretty quickly. MOST people will be nice to you, and your question on home ownership... yes, most people (from what i know and see) seem to have their own residence. there are a lot of rentals and apartments in town, but the majority of living areas are houses, and they are owned by the occupants.

and finally, the mustang scene. there are some local car clubs (i am a part of a club called racingsouthwest (Welcome to Racing Southwest) and it is both foreign and domestic car club. there are a lot f friendly people on the board, and weekly meets for everyone. there are also some car-specific meets. like honda meets, mustang meets, and even broad meets like domestic meets.

hope i helped some!!

oh, cost of living:

City of Albuquerque Cost of Living Calculator. New Mexico--Albuquerque Relocation Calculator & Index

idk how accurate that is. there is a site i used in a class i took last semester that gave us the cost of living (which i want to say was something like 41k/yr) but i can't remember it for the life of me
