Okay. I don't know if anyone uses AF but I got some questions anyway. I'm having a hard time playing my files. They save as .aep file. And I can't view it in windows media or upload to youtbe. Can anyone help?
Possibly... Which version are you running? When rendering, try changing the format of output video. Usually there is a drop-down menu with a ton of choices of output. Try avi. or mpg.

I'm running CS3. I'm not sure about the rest your talking about. I juuussst got started on it today. Thanks for your help.
Welp. Nevermind. Back to square one. I'm done with the project and went to save as, it only lets me save as a After Effects Project, .aep file. How to I save as a file for youtube or windows media player?
An mpg is always a good bet. We have alpha channel info in most of our output videos ath we bring in to our Avid Adrenaline and they seem to work the best without having to mess with field order or anything. Just make sure that all the elements in the comp you're desiging are of the same resolution or that they are interpreted first (ctl F on a pc) or you'll have smooth video with weird artifacts and jitters.
Just some thoughts...
Look around at the drop down menus in the render que and you'll see all your optioins. There are many and a lot of times there is no right or wrong - just what will work best for what you're trying to accomplish.
Good luck and have fun!

LOL, I had an interesting discussion along those lines with a fellow "commercial artist" this past saturday (at the Kennesaw Arts Festival, wild show).
He was trying to be nice to me, told me about some $60 program that was better for drawing than Photoshop, because it didn't create jaggy lines...
At first I couldn't figure out what he was talking about, then I asked him if he was using a PC or a Mac.
"It doesn't make any difference", he insisted.
All I could do is smile and shake my head.

Maybe he's confusing Photoshop with MS Paint? ;-) I've never had any "jaggy lines" issues in Photoshop.

3B LOL - Commercial Artist and $60 program do not go together... I use CS3 (not upgrading to 4 yet) and Quark... New, that's about what - $1200 in programs maybe more LOL

I try to be nice to all the people who walk into my booth at these shows, though. You never know who might buy something. But you DO get some odd conversations.
