 signed Carroll Shelby dash plaques
The Mustangs that are modified at Shelby American each get an engraved and signed dash plaque stuck on between the two center round AC vents. These Mustang models include the Shelby GT, Shelby GT-H, SuperSnake, etc.
The Shelby GT500 does not visit Shelby American for any modifications or additions and does not come with the dash plaque. However, Shelby sells the plaque for $324.95 as part of #KIT-SP-DPGT500 including a couple of sill plates. (Other websites list this same kit for $399.) You must provide the serial number of your GT500 in order to order the plaque, in order to prove that you are buying it for a true GT500 and for the VIN to be engraved on the dash plate.
It seems pretty expensive for a little trim piece (paying mainly for Carroll Shelby's actual signature, I guess). I wouldn't even mount it on my dash (I think the dash looks cleaner without it), but I am considering buying one just to have it. Shelby makes a lot of money selling his signature, but he isn't getting any younger and you never know how long he'll be around. Has anyone else bought or even considered buying the signed dash plate for their GT500?
