Default GT500 Shelby Engine Caps

Has anyone heard of a recall on the Shelby Engine caps. I purchased mine threw BOI, and this past weekend at a car show a friend of mine pointed out that the power steering fluid had water in it. Seems I'm not the first one to have this happened, the only reason he told me about it, is that it happened to him as well. Seems the power steering cap has a vent hole in it, which the factory one does not. When you was your car, or it rains, the water runs down threw the heat extractor vents and settles on top of the cap, which then drains into the power steering unit. He stated that he had this happen a year ago, and thought that there was a recall on the caps. For those who have this, and don't know about this, problem you might want to check it out on your power steering container. For those who may want to get them, be carefull as the same thing will happen unless you plug that whole. But I would like to know if anyone knows of a actuall recall on these things. Thanks

Yep..I have the same problem but haven't heard of a recall on them. I know keep that cap in my trunk and will use it only for car shows at this point. The one thing to do is call Shelby though which I will do today and let you know.

Ok..I talked to them and they did somewhat recall them. They have changed them now because there doesn't need to be a hole. You can either contact them to get a new one or put like a clear silicone over the hole..but make sure it will take the heat if you do that.

No..it would be Shelby or Scott Drake I would assume. Scott Drake makes all that kind of stuff for Shelby. That's where I would start. shelbyperformanceparts.com

Guys and GT500 girl, I had this same problem. But I would be careful about plugging the hole with cilicone. There IS actually a breather hole on the oem cap, it's hidden underneath the top cap.
Someone told me so and I didn't believe them so I had to take it apart to see it. I don't know what could happen if you didn't let air in or out of the pwr steering canister. Probably would just become really pressurised when it got hot. Either way, I just threw my set away and ordered this supertrick set with carbon fiber in them that has just been realeased from another company. I orderend mine from lethal perfomance but I suppose everyone will be carrying them. I guess we cant post pictures on here but you know how to search the internet right? And yes, I already checked this set does have a breather hole on the pwr steering cap but it's underneath just like the oem cap so no water will get in!
