Default Springs: Steeda vs. Vogtland

I think I have narrowed down my choice of lowering springs to these two. Does anyone know how they compare with respect to ride quality? Also Steeda says they lower the rear more so the car sits more level. True? I have ruled out FRPP because they stiffen the ride.

Steeda gets my vote

I hate to bust your bubble but Vogtland makes Steeda's springs. I went on a tour of their plant a few months ago here in California.

Hate to discourage you but everyone says lowering the GT500 makes it a problem car. Even the guys at Evolution Performance said it.

The weight transfer is crucial for the car to function properly. If you do lower it you gotta go with all the supporting mods that Evolution Performance already has in a bundle. You can get the individual parts elsewhere but I have heard and seen it is a headache without them.

I have had my car lowered for over a year and have had no problems. What does Evo say happens?

What Evo and a few other local GT500 owners who have lowered their cars told me was that because the weight transfer is gone because of the stiffer springs the car tends to do weird things when it is pushed. I had one guy tell me he tends to turn sideways even more then stock when he punches it and the tires spin. Another guy told me that he completely would lose control shifting hard from first to second. This was something that never happened to him before and he has added no parts after. Evo just advised not lowering it and going that route...

Ahh, I have never had those problems. I can push it a lot harder now with the suspension and wheel/tire combo. Now the car doesn't go sideways on wheel spin/burnouts. Stock during burn outs the rear would come left. I'm glad I don't have those problems. I'd sure be upset after spending all that cash, lol.

Guess you are one of the few lucky ones.

I guess its like the lower control arms, for some people it has completely gotten rid of the wheel hop and made it worse for others.

Glad you are ok though...what setup do you have exactly?

I think this is all a bunch of hooey. I just had a look at their "ultimate" kit, and it doesn't even include a decent set of dampers, the component that makes the single biggest difference in how the car's suspension reacts. Without decent dampers, no springs are going to work well.
Lowering with Vogtland or Steeda springs should cause no handling problems, as long as the springs are properly damped. Granted, my car doesn't have the torque or nose weight of the GT500, but those springs (and good dampers) sure helped my car.

I have H&R coilovers and eibach swaybars. BMR LCA and LCA relocations and adjustable 3rd link and 3rd link mount and their super 3rd link bushing. The BMR stuff totally got rid of my wheel hop.
