ok so i saw on a window sticker the GT500KR is not street legal seemed kinda odd to be able to sell the car but not be able to drive it

Yea the KR they have at Lafayette Ford here has the same thing on it. HMMM?!?!?

This sounds like the sticker thats on the car before it goes to Shelby to get the KR package. The car is not complete before it goes and I believe it doesn't get the vin number until they get ahold of it.

Definitely sounds like the sticker put on a GT500 for shipment to Shelby for assembly to be completed there, which turns it into a KR. Usually see those "window stickers" on-line at dealers as place holders until the car is completed at Shelby.

I talked to the manager of the dealership I got my GT from about some Shelby's that said that as well ("NOT STREET LEGAL").

I don't remember exactly, but he said something like they hadn't gone through California's emission testing yet. Eventually they would become street legal, they just weren't totally finished while on display.

Something like that anyways.

You guys could be right, but if you are able to buy it when its waiting to go to Shelby for the KR package... Why would you buy it???

Good question...but assuming you bought it I would think it would be kind of like pre ordering it. You just couldn't get your hands on it till it was finished and ready for the street. That's kind of strange though that they would put them on display like that. I think they put the stickers on before and they don't pull them till they are finished and sold. I'll have to look at my KR stickers and see if they say that.

I pulled my sticker from my car and the only thing I can see on thee is on the ford sticker it says vehicle not for sale so that is before it goes to Shelby then it has a seperate sticker that is from Shelby themselves with the price on top of the Ford price which would be your combined cost to purchase the vehicle. When I get a chance I'll take a pic and post it. I'm just really busy today.

it say not street legal or not for sale. because when it comes from ford it is not finished. it has to go to shelby to get the s/c and the rest of the kr package. only then is it for sale and street legal. it has to have the shelby price adjustment window sticker on it to sell it.. to after it comes from shelby the ford sticker is no good.

oh side note when i bought my gt the sticker on it said not for sale in california or states with california strict emission standards. i was like wtf?

The car doesnt come witha VIN # from ford. Shelby completes the car and assigns a VIN # this is why the FORD stick says NOT 50 STATE LEGAL. Hope this helps
